Consignee once all necessary documents and prices were in order.

Key Deliverables:
• Shouldered the entire responsibility of carrying out the ship repair purchasing functions by handling vessels scheduled and unscheduled repairs and maintenance, ensuring cost-effectiveness, optimal resource allocation and timely delivery. Dealt with all company-owned and managed vessels, including bulk carriers, crude oil tankers and research vessels calling Chennai, Ennore and Kattupalli seaports.
• Managed and catered to technical requirements of all passenger-cum-cargo vessels transiting between Andaman & Nicobar Islands and mainland ports.
• Supported vessel superintendent during vessel inspections and prepared detailed repair specifications.
• Networked regularly with the Master, Chief Engineer and the rest of the ship staff to understand voyage issues in detail and offer the most time and cost-effective solution.
• Acted as a Key member of the Tender and Purchase Committee (TPC) responsible for developing the organization’s procurement strategy.
• Managed the tendering process for the procurement of emergency, planned and periodic ship spares and award contracts as per the organization’s policies and Delegation of Power guidelines.
• Developed and processed Purchase Orders worth millions of dollars through the SAP system to procure, clear and forward critical ship spares across major ports of India.
• Maintained inventory of procured items and ensured proper storeroom control using various management techniques like ABC analysis and VED analysis to reduce overall acquisition and inventory costs.
• Followed up with all stakeholders regarding the delivery status and strictly adhered to payment terms which are in the organization’s best interests.

• Reduced procurement costs of fast-moving materials by 20 to 30% by increasing tender participation and competition. Always remained approachable and hospitable with all vendors during the entire tendering, RFQ, RFP and registration process.
• Successfully assured end-to-end tendering and purchasing process is entered and captured in the SAP system. Ensured docketing invoices in SAP was carried out only after diligent scrutiny of invoices and supporting documents.
• Empaneled and awarded contracts to over 40 new vendors during my tenure. Instilled confidence in the new vendors and ensured payment was made on time by building a strong relationship with the Finance & Accounts team.
