• Overseeing day-to-day management and supervision of Metro operation and all front line staff, working as Train Captain and Hostess, and coordinating their tasks.
• Managing briefing and debriefing with the front line staff and, in case, with the managers of the Operation Control Centre.
• Instruct and train the front line staff, including practical training during the duty period and classroom training.
• Controlling and monitoring the staff during working hours. Preparing reports and feedbacks for the management in case of events impacting the service (faults, breakdowns, delays, incidents and emergency situations).
• Preparing the roster (daily, weekly, monthly) for the staff and managing, day by day, the real staffing conditions, putting in place all the mitigations required in case of a serious reduction in the number of staff.
• Attending meeting with the management, raising issues and problems related to front line staff and activities, working together in order to find the possible solutions.
• Supply of safety-related written information and verification of understanding. In addition, ensuring acknowledgement of receipt according to applicable rules.
In the beginning the Metro System was operated in manual mode without any kind of signalling system to assist drivers.
The training as a Train Captain included a session in Copenhagen (Denmark) for one week, as the concept of the Riyadh APM is based on Copenhagen Metro.
The experience made includes the participation to all the commissioning phase of the system, including the tests (integration tests, commissioning tests) necessary to swop from Manual Operation (trains operated without any external assistance - no signalling) to fully Automated Operation (driverless).
I worked as an internee and performed a range of administrative tasks to ensure our organisation runs efficiently.
