In the summer of 2014, I undertook the summer internship programme at DHL supply chain in order to understand supply chain management by comparing the classroom learning with the actual work at DHL. During my time at DHL, I worked in four different departments namely the quality control department, the planning department, the document control department and the transportation department. We also went to the warehouse twice a week in order to understand how operations are going on there.
I was assigned to different departments and given a variety of tasks which included understanding the shipping requirement, daily KPI reports, capacity planning, types of loading and unloading machinery used, understanding the types of buyer supplier relationships and docking issues.
The supply chain management program is committed to providing a broad range of skills designed to meet student aspirations and the needs of the business community. This program endeavors to help students attain their highest educational goals and to provide them a firm foundation in supply chain management practices and a firm value-based foundation for lifelong learning and a career in supply chain management.
