As IT Manager
Manage information technology and computer systems
Plan, organize, control and evaluate IT and electronic data operations
Manage IT staff by recruiting, training and coaching employees, communicating job expectations and appraising their performance
Design, develop, implement and coordinate systems, policies and procedures
Ensure security of data, network access and backup systems
Act in alignment with user needs and system functionality to contribute to organizational policy
Identify problematic areas and implement strategic solutions in time
Audit systems and assess their outcomes
Preserve assets, information security and control structures
Handle annual budget and ensure cost effectiveness As Sr SQL Server DBA
Ensure all database servers are backed up in a way that meets the business’s Recovery Point Objectives (RPO)

Troubleshoot SQL Server service outages as they occur, including after-hours and weekends
Configure SQL Server monitoring utilities to minimize false alarms
As new systems are brought in-house, choose whether to use clustering, log shipping, mirroring, or other technologies
Install and configure new SQL Servers
Deploy database change scripts provided by third party vendors
When performance issues arise, determine the most effective way to increase performance including hardware purchases, server configuration changes, or index/query changes
Document the company’s database environment
On-call troubleshooting experience with at least one production SQL Server .
Analyzes, troubleshoots and configures SQL Server systems issues.
Finding DMV queries to answer questions about server-level performance
Using free tools like sp_Blitz® and sp_WhoIsActive to diagnose server reliability and performance issues
Creating reports with different Apps like SAP Dashboard, Power BI, Crystal Report, SQL Server Report 3
Tuning T-SQL queries to improve performance

Failover clustering, replication, and other high availability technologies,
SQL Server merge, peer to peer, or transactional replication
Service Broker
Analysis Services, Integration Services, or Reporting Services
Installing and upgrading the database server and application tools
Allocating system storage and planning future storage requirements for the database system
Modifying the database structure, as necessary, from information given by application developers
Enrolling users and maintaining system security
Controlling and monitoring user access to the database
Monitoring and optimizing the performance of the database
Maintaining archived data
Generating various reports by querying from database as per need
Managing and monitoring data replication
Production replication setup, adjustment and monitoring
Working with the prod support team to push out releases containing Procs, Views, inserts, updates,
security changes, scripts, etc.

Documentation of existing production systems
Assist with migrating, deploying and scheduling SSIS packages
Determining root cause for performance issues, job failures, blocking, waits, etc.
