Project Manager - CBS at United Bank Limited

UBL is ranked among the top 5 largest banks with over 1100 branches in Pakistan. Project Genesis is responsible for implementation core banking application CBS, a product of SUNGARD. The team comprises of 60 people from Business and IT.

• The role requires to maintain an excellent relationship with all stakeholders including business (Retail bank, Corporate & Commercial, Consumer, Trade Finance and Finance) and IT (Integration, Co-existence, Migration, Networks, Automation, Server & DBAs) and Vendor & their Project Manager.

• Developed and managed workable project plan with consideration to all dependencies and constraints including Issues, Risks, Resources, Time, Cost etc.

• Strong montoring and control procedures were implemented to have clear status of project at any time.

• Reporting directly to Project Leadership. This role demands availability of an accurate and precise information for prompt decision making.

• Some important phases of project which were managed as PM:

- Branch Rollout - managing branch rollouts since the 1st branch went LIVE on CBS in Jul 2010. UBL has now over 270+ branches LIVE.
- UAT (User Acceptance Testing) involving 100+ resources and 5000+ test cases.
- FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) - conducted in Manila.
- The earlier phases of the project were Familiarization, ECT (Early Core Testing), Gap Analysis etc.

• In addition to PM role, was entrusted with following additional responsibilities:

- Secretary Change Management Committee (CMC)
- Static Data Preparation Management
- End User Training Plans
- Issues Management Process
- Change Request Approval Process,
- Requirements Documentation Processes

• Worked with Corporate/Commercial Lending teams for evaluation of CBS 8.2 & 8.3 for Customer Lending, Limit Control, Retail banking & Knowledge Manager modules. Designed end to end process flow, Design and Development of Loan Origination System.

• Worked as Project Manager for a US based project leading a 6 people. Responsibilities included Customer communication and requirement understanding, project planning and estimation, change management, issues and risk monitoring.

• Worked as Project Manager for an ERP project, implemented for KINGS Apparel, a leading garment exporter in Pakistan. Lead a team of 12 people. Responsibility included project plans, change management, risk and issue management and preparing implementation strategies

• Participated actively in ISO certification effort of the company. Worked with Program Department Head to prepare standards and procedures for the department. Gave various presentations on topics including “Importance of ERP and how it is implemented in Textile Industry” and “Clarus Process and involvement of Project Management”.

• Lead a team of 4 business analysts for Materials Management Module. This module included Accessories, Yarn, Grey and Dyed Fabric and Chemical stores. The major responsibilities were to get system requirements from the users, convert them into prototype and use cases, compiling an SRS, and getting an approval from the customer.

• Worked on Hasni Hosiery and Maxco, both are leading garment exporters of Pakistan.

• Worked as Project Management Advisor with the team for Maxco project. Helped them in re-planning and scheduling with respect to time, cost and human resources.

• The ERP system included Accounts, Purchase, Inventory, Sales (POS, Cash and Credit), Production, Restaurant, Time Management, HR and Payroll. Successfully designed and implemented various process control tools like Change Management, Deployment Tracking, Bug Tracking etc. Planned and organized the ITCN 2003 stall of the company

Software Engineer at Free Lance Projects

This was a free lance project which ran for around 4 months. The objective was to get the complete feel of working alone on a project from end to end.

 Designed and implemented an online order system for NIKE retailers (NIKE Pakistan). This project was to cut the printing cost of the product catalogue. The system was implemented in ASP 3.0 and MS Access.

 Designed and implemented inventory management system for Siddiqsons Processing Unit. It tracked complete purchase cycle from the generation of purchase requisition till invoice generation. Issuance and returns from department were also tracked. This system was developed in VB 6, SQL server and Crystal Reports.
