Decision Support Systems and Integration Engineer
Saudi Aramco
Total years of experience :14 years, 5 Months
Working on developing IMOM system for one of the major refineries in the middle east including all the pre-engineering and project development details.
Worked on developing engineering procedures and guidelines. Also, participated in maintaining plant network and systems including multiple control systems. Also, exposed to instrumentations and project execution activities under various upgrade projects.
Worked with other professionals to develop systematic solutions for one of Saudi Arabia most pressing problems: Motor Vehicle Accidents. In addition to promoting safe driving skills and awareness sessions for public and co-workers.
I worked with digital group in which supports the maintenance of plants’ networks and systems. As a part of my duties, I participated in supporting the following: wiring, hardware installation, performing Preventive Maintenance (PM) activities, troubleshooting failed systems software and hardware, preparing equipment for work-over and cooperating with other maintenance and engineering teams in conducting upgrade projects.
Working in one of Saudi Aramco new gas plants to support the daily operations and to insure the functions and task are performed efficiently and reliably. Working on multiple networks with complex levels and different systems provided me with a solid background about different applications, systems and protocols that are very critical to a oil and gas industrial processes. The main systems I worked on and developed some applications based on them were:
- DCS (Yokogawa Centum VP): Support the engineering activities in creating and configuring datapoints, supporting installation of new field devices, troubleshoot encountered issues and failures, set the communications with integrated systems, develop graphics, build and develop solution for process challenges, users management and security hardening.
- ESDS (Triconex).
- PRMS (Yokogawa).
- AMS (Yokogawa).
- CCS (CCC systems)
- OSISoft PI (Historian)
- VMS (Bently Nevada).
- APC System (Yokogawa)
- OPC Communication Servers.
- Plant Operation Information System (POIS).
- RO.
As a PAN Admin, I worked on conduction of security risk assessment for the whole plant network and systems which some of them are mentioned above. Also, I participated in different activities on different systems such as:
- EPO System
- Central Antivirus
- Active Directory
- Network Monitoring
- Log Collection
- Data Diode
- Removable Media
- Network Switches
- Emergency Boarding System
and more..
Moreover, I developed and revised handful of procedures, standards and drill scenarios for plant security.
Worked on multiple issues related to systems integration and evaluation. Fore example, the following topics were covered during the period:
- ISA95 MOM Applications Integration.
- ISA95 MOM Applications Evaluation.
- Security Deployment and Evaluation of Industrial Applications for oil and gas.
- Data analytics, evaluation and optimisation. e.g. big data industrial application.
I worked with Aramco for 6 weeks as summer trainee within the Decision Support Systems Unit under Process and Control Systems department. My main role was to get the knowledge of work process and to participate in some of the tasks performed by the engineers there. Tasks that I involved in covered the below systems and topics:
Plant Information Application (PI).
Rule Engines.
Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
Data Validation and Reconciliation (DVR).
Energy Performance Monitoring System (EPMS).
Enterprise Monitoring Solution.
Integration of People, Processes and Systems.
Data Analytics (DA)
I participated in the development of the newly created Engineering Solution Centre which aims to provide flexibility and accessibility for engineers who wants to access the restricted data and it provide information about all plants and refinery in Aramco. I gained good knowledge at the end of the program about some of the applications that are used in oil and gas industry and how they are utilised. Also, I had the opportunity to meet and network with great engineers who have great ideas and great experience.
I worked as a teacher in a volunteering learning centre which gave me a great opportunity to interact with young students and other youths working there exchanging experiences with them and learning new ways to deal with young students.
Also, I worked as the Executive manager who is responsible for arranging and administrating over the learning places and guiding the volunteers there.
