Responsibilities:
• Support of Data Centre infrastructure, Server/OS platforms, and networks.
• Managed entire physical and Virtual Networks

• EIGRP, IPSEC VPN, Remote Access VPNs, VLANs, Ethernchanels, QoS, GLBP

• Completed successful extension of one production site by extending fibre optics, switched and wireless network.

• Successfully migrated from PIX firewall to ASA firewalls.

I was assigned the work of continuous monitoring of security controls and suggest and implement any improvements. During my short stay I was accomplished following
o Suggested Draft copies of IT policies and procedures.
o Submitted detail design of secure and flexible WAN connection of head office to 20 + branches and DR site across Pakistan. Later created rfp for components required for tender process.
o Developed a backup scheme as per organization requirements.
o Studied last external audit report and implement controls to remove a lot of discrepancies.

I was responsible for overall Technical activities of the company’s IT department, that includes assigning the responsibilities to assistants and management of the corporate LAN of 2 sites, comprising of 6 servers, 80 workstations, Microsoft AD, ISA server, Exchange Server, Monitoring softwares, Cisco routers, manageable switches, PIX firewall and wireless access points. Also, responsible for the management of the company’s in-house software development efforts.
During this period I,
o Analyze and evaluate present or proposed business procedures or problems to define data processing needs.
o Conduct technical research on system upgrades to determine feasibility, cost, time required, and compatibility with current system.
o Ensured the maximum uptime by proactively monitoring and updating the network and systems components.
o Developed strategy to ensure the security of the corporate LAN and WAN including Internet.
o Developed the Disaster recovery plan for the company IT services.
o Involved in procurement and selection of the technologies.
o Provide the occasional trainings to the assistants and end users.
o Migrated the old network from the workgroup environment to the Microsoft Active Directory environment.
o Deployed and managed the Microsoft Exchange 2003.
o Implemented and managed the ISA server 2000. Later update that to ISA 2004.
o Deployed and manage scalable Network consisting of LAN of sites, site to site VPNs, remote access VPNs, multiple internet connections over Cisco routers, Pix firewall and switches.
o Deployed the SNMPc5 for the network equipment management.
I was responsible for managing the local network including the Cisco switches, Cisco router, Microsoft Exchange server 2000, ISA server 2000 and providing the network support to the customers.
Worked as a lecturer / Research Assistant in Hamdard Institute of Information Technology, Hamdard University.
Major responsibilities include:
o Designing and Development of Lab and Lab Manual for the course of Computer Networks.
o Established the Local Cisco Academy.
o Conducting Lab sessions for Data Communications Lab.
o Conducting sessions for the course of Wireless Protocol and Application development.
o Involved in doing research with Dr. Juanid Zubairi, Asc. Professor University of Fredonia, US in the field of MPLS and Constraint Based Routing
