Examining English Language Skills of students
Develop professional development standards for schools teachers and school leaders; • Ensure the compliance of continuous professional development policies both at the regional and school level; • Conduct orientation sessions for regional management on the professional development standards and policies for schools teachers and school leaders; • Give strategic directions, critically review professional development plans developed by regional teams and facilitate capacity building of the regional teams leading professional development programmes; • Bring synergy among regional teams by engaging them in collaborative planning and to share the professional development manuals; • Develop linkages, partnership and working relations with professional development institutions within and beyond AKDN; • Analyse professional development programmes against target setting in the teachers and school leaders’ performance appraisal; • Facilitate professional development impact studies at regional and school level, disseminate and create discussion forums related to research and best professional development practices; • Seek feedback from teachers and teacher educators, and accordingly advice the professional development planning team to incorporate in their future endeavours.
Reviewing potential research papers in education studies
This part-time role involves reviewing and editing articles. The role also involve investigating potential reviewers, then sending articles to appropriate reviewers, and finally deciding whether the article should be recommended for publication, advise the author some changes in the light of the reviewers' comments or else rejected.
The role strengthened my analytical and editing skills and gave me more confidence to work within time-scale and provide excellent and quality feedback to authors.
This initially part-time and later full-time role was largely about teaching English subject to learners of 12 and 13 years old. My role as a subject specialist was to design learning materials, engaging with curriculum staff, and involve learners in English language learning and teaching the core basics of linguistics.
This full-time role was largely a teaching-focused role, however it involved a number of other duties including creating and implementing curriculum and lesson plans. It also involved developing learners’ learning abilities through a number of variant theoretical understandings, imparting lesson plans through instructions and teaching, guiding and supporting learners in educational, social and co-curricular matters. Similarly this role was also focused on assessing and evaluating existing curriculum to ensure its fits the current education framework. Other duties include developing incentives to ensure active participation of students in classrooms as well in co-curricular activities. As a teacher, I also assisted in improving the standard of learning techniques as well supporting learners to the best possible level.
