Marshalls are the leading manufacturer of product solutions for the built environment. Customers include national builders merchants, architects and specifiers, local and national government as well as consumers. Moved IT from operational to a real value creator in the business. We created digital solutions directly for customers including dropship. We also built technology directly into manufactured product e.g. water, flood, solar and other environmental sensors. I introduced significant automation to make the business more efficient and profitable. Outcomes include:
• AI strategy: deployed GenAI, predictive pricing (4% margin improvement) and inventory optimisation (£12.1m working capital improvement) models in production; established data and AI governance framework underpinning real-world adoption.
• Drove electronic ordering from 3% on arrival to 68%; successfully rolled out D365 ERP F&O across the group
• Industry 4.0 and advanced manufacturing including Digital Twin simulations, IoT and shop-floor data integration across 60 sites
• Product innovation through technology fusion: IoT sensors embedded in drainage product, kerbside EV charging, and Smart City propositions
• Augmented Reality customer-facing visualisation rolled out for commercial and domestic customers
• Led Azure cloud migration and FinOps cost governance, optimising cloud spend across the group
• ESG and Sustainable Innovation reporting (e.g. Carbon Capture) using Blockchain and emerging technologies
• Worked extensively with the external technology and partner ecosystem to scout, evaluate and adopt emerging technologies at pace
• Data literacy programme rolled out across the business, training all teams on data and AI fundamentals
• Board-level cyber risk reporting and zero-trust architecture adoption across manufacturing sites
• Introduced enterprise architecture principles to rationalise and simplify the technology estate
• Presented digital strategy and transformation business cases to board and PE investors
• CX-led approach to digital product design including customer-facing AR and e-commerce platforms
• Established data governance framework and responsible AI policy for pricing and inventory models
