Consultant Urologic Surgeon

May 2009 - October 2010

Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital

Gambia

May 2009 - October 2010

Although my employment was still as a Registrar, when I came back home from UK I was given the duties of consultant awaiting formalization of the appointment which took some time due to negotiations between the University and Teaching Hospital. As the only Gambian Urologist I ran the unit together with two other urologists (Cuban and Egyptian). Apart from my clinical work, I was involved in medical student teaching and training of more junior doctors. This was when I just returned from UK after completing my training period under the BJUI scholarship. Although I was receiving a salary and working full time during this period, I was yet to receive an employment letter due to administrative lapses.
