Responsible for the safe delivery of a portfolio of projects within a nuclear controlled environment. Duties include:
•Tendering/Bids
•Working with, and leading bid teams and joint venture partners in the preparation of bids (up to £8m).
•Liaising with sub-contractors to provide quotations including flowing down contract T&C's.
•Evaluation of project risks
•Ensuring JFN is protected through properly considered assumptions and exclusions.
•Planning - Production and maintenance of schedules. Adequately planning resource in order to deliver project milestones and deliverables successfully.
•Implementation - Overall management, tracking and controlling of the project. Including controlling project costs, production and updating of project schedules, risk registers and quality plans. Holding client meetings, raising EWN's (early warning notices), CEN's (Compensation Event Notices) and maintaining at all times client relationships.
•Close Out - Production of LTQR (Life Time Quality Record) files for handover to client.
Clients worked with include Sellafield Ltd, Rolls Royce Marine Power and MoD.
A complex and challenging offshore wind-farm remediation project on the Solway Firth. Duties were as follows:
• Responsible for safeguarding Alstom’s commercial interests and all commercial functions such as; preparing monthly cost reports and financial forecasts, management of sub-contractor accounts, authorising invoice payments, analysis of costs against forecast to maintain accuracy, liaising with site team to identify variations, working with senior management team to resolve contractual and commercial issues, raising commercial awareness amongst site team and identifying and improving ‘best value’ project delivery
• Acting as ‘Project Lead’ when the Project Manager was absent
• Full responsibility for procurement of materials and equipment
• Monitoring and reporting KPI performance
• Production of reports for weekly and monthly client meeting
• Updating of project management ‘dashboard’ tool to record key project facts and figures on a weekly basis
• Documenting any ‘lessons learnt’ on project for use in future tenders
An ‘outage' project with a value of ~£4 million. Working for the Commercial Manager to deliver a commercially sound and profitable outcome. Responsible, amongst other duties, for:
•Performing cost analysis
•Liaising with supervision to identify time and cost variations
•Costing and raising variations with client
•Providing necessary support to business on commercial and financial issues
Working closely with the construction manager in a new ‘post M, E&I completions team', the role involved assisting in control and coordination of work scope activities and QA/QC documents associated with Alstom scope works, including the production of method statement/risk assessments and the distribution of work packages to supervision. I managed and reported completion progress for review by the client.
Key to this role was to understand client requirements and subsequently deliver those targets to their expectations, safely, on time and to budget.
Completions Team:
My key objective was to aid the project in achieving commercial operation date by means of exposing completion blockers, with particular emphasis on completion of turn over certificates (TOC's) to achieve first fire of units. The role involved working with consultants to achieve specific aims.
Construction Team:
Main duties included providing technical support to the management team with a large emphasis on HRSG quality control. This necessitated being responsible for the following;
•Compiling hydrostatic and pneumatic piping test packs for HRSG department.
•Providing key interface with quality assurance department on behalf of construction team
• ‘Punching' out pipe-work systems to establish construction readiness, categorising and then highlighting outstanding punch items for completion prior to testing of systems, chemical clean and system handover.
• Raising pipework and structural RFI's (requests for inspection) with QA/QC department on behalf of construction team for validation of completed mechanical works (and to ensure correct quality control procedures have been met at all stages prior to pressure testing and handover of systems.)
•Collating piping punch lists through relevant quality procedures and onto completions in readiness for pre commissioning activities.
•Controlling, managing and distributing all departmental documentation.
•Monitored, recorded and reported mechanical and construction progress to client.
•Reported weekly progress in absence of unit manager and attended regular management meetings to discuss boiler readiness and preparation for chemical clean of internal boiler systems.
•Supported project in tracking mechanical completion to system completion transition.
•Highlighted and reported outstanding items required to aid unit completion.
•Compiled work-packs for issue to site including all applicable drawings and 3D model images concerning outstanding snagging items required for T.O.P handover to client.
Role: PROJECT SURVEYOR Company
Performed site survey's in order to verify correct dimensional installation of newly installed equipment.
•Precisely levelling various components including steam and gas turbine beds and shafts (0.025mm accuracy), levelling of pumps, motors and high pressure pipe-work systems integral to steam system.
•Alignment of steelwork and main structural columns to realise suitable weld gaps
•Supporting and instructing supervision and tradesmen in the correct dimensional installation of all manors of equipment associated with new build power station.
•‘Setting out' to enable installation of tanks, motors, pumps, steel columns etc.
•Determining the elevation of various steel components, bolts and concrete by means of survey, thus allowing for accurate installation of new equipment
•Ensuring at all times the correct calibration of survey equipment to verify obtained survey results.
•Responsible for the production of AutoCAD ‘as built' drawings to provide evidence of installation of surveyed structures and equipment in line with specification.
•Establishing and recording tertiary control network using primary site network for purpose of triangulating survey equipment.
Role: BUILDING SERVICES TECHNICIAN Company
Main duties included the calculation and technical design of mechanical building services such as HVAC systems, as well production of various mechanical layout drawings and schematics by means of AutoCAD 2D drawing package.
I self-funded a Foundation Degree in Leadership & Management whilst working full time to enhance my career progression.
