Position Description
• Performing a wide variety of specialized to highly specialized translation work in both Arabic and English.
• Translating difficult and complex materials often requiring specialized research.
• Translating and editing work of a confidential nature.
• Translating from and into Arabic and English a large volume of important/complex correspondence exchanged between the Company and the government, principally the Ministry of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources (MEIMR), covering a variety of difficult and complex technical subjects.
• Translating/editing/proofreading a variety of contracts/MoUs/agreements awarded by the Company to local contractors/vendors.
• Translating/editting PR news stories both in Arabic and English to be published in our Weekly Newspaper; Al-Qafila (Arabic) or The Arabian Sun (English).
• Translating various current and confidential financial reports to the government; such as Business Plan, Annual Review, Income Tax Declarations, Balance Sheets, and Audit Reports of the Company.
• Translating scientific articles intended for Government use or for public release as well as a miscellany of reports and circulars published by government agencies.
Worked as a free-lance Translator/Contributor (via e-mail), editing and translating news stories of variant fields, mainly related to the Gulf Region and Qatar in particular(politics, economy, social, medicine, miscellaneous, features, entertainment) to be published in the Doha-based Qatar Today Magazine
Scope of work:
a) Translating and editing of news stories/ features/ articles across all publications of Oryx Publishing & Advertising Co and United Media Services
b) Translation of articles, and quality control of translated work.
Worked as a Translator at the USAID-funded "Family Justice Project" in collaboration with Egypt’s Ministry of Justice.
Worked as the personal translator/assistant to the Project Chief of Party (U.S. Citizen) and personal translator for the USAID Chief Technical Officer (U.S. Citizen)
On May 2009, escorted a group of six non-English speaking Egyptian Family Court Judges during their visit to the United States (Miami, New Orleans - Washington D.C.), where they made field visits to US Family Courts and Mediation Centers, and during their participation at the Association of Family & Conciliation Courts (AFCC) Conference.
Duties included but not limited to:
1) Translation of legal documents, articles, activity schedules, annual, quarterly reports, and letters to relevant ministries and top government agencies.
2) Translation of English/Arabic manuals
3) Assisting in the preparation and presentation of project related conferences
4) Covering the conferences and training programs held by the project
5) Assisting in preparing post-training reports
6) Performing simultaneous translation in conferences and trainings conducted by the project
7) Other assignments in support of program activities
Achievements:
a) Translation of training materials for Legal Specialists at Mediation Offices during the training courses held across Egypt.
b) Simultaneous interpretation at training sessions and meetings/conferences held with Key Officials from the Ministry of Justice
• Worked at the newsroom within an 8-member team tasked to translate and edit news stories from online news websites (English to/from Arabic), such as (AlJazeera.net, BBC Arabic, CNN, Reuters and MSNBC) to be uploaded on www.tarjim.com service.
• Worked as a senior translator and editor at the Post Editing Translation Service (P.E.T.S) handling the branches of news, health, technology and economy, typing my work and uploading it online.

- Trained as a translator and editor at the Foreign Listening Department.
Listening to BBC World and CNN news channels then translating and editing the news stories to be distributed to local newspapers.
Worked as a translator and editor in the Arabic General Desk.
Graduated from the Faculty of Languages and Translation department of English Simultanious Interpretation, Al Azhar University. May 2001.
