After graduating from school and researching the job market, Accounting seemed the best alternative for me. After doing well in my first semester, I knew that I was in the right place and I could achieve excellence in my future career with more effort. I decided to attend all lectures, take comprehensive notes and work diligently on my success. I used to self-study and then tutor my friends, which helped emphasize and further understand accounting topics. I fell in love with Accounting to the extent that I used to use my free time to read any book and magazine related to the topic like Financial Times, the Economist and INC, which helped link Accounting with Finance. One of the articles that I liked was on the financial crisis and helped clarify how small decision on banks regulations can affect the entire economy. Also, reading about international financial reporting standards updates helped me understand cause-and-effect of what we do in the industry and regulations that govern it. I couldn’t wait to do this in real-life. During college, I didn’t miss the chance to apply to Work and Travel program and join Morey's Piers team in Wildwood, NJ. For three months, I worked as a game operator and food and beverage worker, where I mingled with new people from different cultures and explored living by myself in a new continent for the first time.
