Part of the OPC department (Operation, Planning and Control), I manage the execution of Alstom’s scope as per FAST consortium agreement in line 5. I lead the interface between Alstom internal execution departments (Power supply, Signaling, Rolling Stock, Passenger Screen Door and Testing Commissioning) and the external stakeholders which include the civil partner of the consortium FCC, the consortium management FAST, as well as the client representative RAMPED.
Key Contributions:
• Achieved the handover of Alstom’s transit system technical rooms according to the agreed handover procedure and uploaded the handover documents to ACONEX. The mentioned rooms included traction power and lighting power substations, signaling low voltage rooms, passage post, and passenger screen door rooms.
• Effectively liaised with stakeholders and achieved smooth site coordination, solving with site team substantial amount of clashes between transit system components and MEP services.
• Kept the planning team updated with site progress and contributed to the accuracy of the project schedule.
• Implemented Alstom’s zero safety deviation policy by reporting all safety breaches to the HSE department, and working with our installation teams and subcontractors to mitigate and close out open safety observation.
• Provided the commercial departments and the construction manager with inputs and records that contributed in defending Alstom against contractual claims raised by the entities involved in the project.
• Effectively liaised with quality department to launch testing and commissioning activities, and provided necessary documentation from external stakeholders related to these activities.
Project Engineer-PMO
Under the direct supervision of the project manager, I was part of part of the project management office leading the various processes under our responsibility, to make sure the project meets all targets set up by the higher management.
Key contributions:
• With the support of the site team and the contracts departments, defended the company against claims/complaints raised by subcontractors as well as the client representative, and prepared draft reply letters to be validated by the PM, containing the necessary references to support the company’s position.
• Efficiently supervised the work of assigned subcontractors, cross-checking internal site reports and contract BOQ with submitted invoices.
• Achieved proper health and safety conditions on the site by diligently tackling safety concerns raised by the client with HSE department.
• Accurately measured the progress on site against project schedule by consolidating internal reports received from all internal stakeholders.
Section Site Engineer
Under the direct supervision of the construction manager, I succeeded in executing the storm and sewage drainage network on an area of 400000 m2, with a team of 4 supervisors and more than 100 labors, within budget and as per schedule set up by higher management. The network was primarily composed of manholes and culverts, connected with ductile iron pipes, or concrete pipes. Also, I supported the site team in the construction of the main train station box, and coordinated the interface between the track area and the drainage network located under the track area.
Key contributions:
• Coherently and cost effectively utilized the resources allocated to my scope by the construction manager, particularly manpower and machinery.
• Created an atmosphere of leadership and commitment to quality work and safety within my team, by providing technical support and explaining proper construction methodologies.
• Achieved good KPI results with the IRs raised on my work.
• Achieved minimal deviation on the schedule set up for my scope, by setting targets and pushing my team to respect its goals.
Dr. Omar Omari Consulting Office (May 2011-Now)
I was responsible for the civil/structural engineering and analysis of structures using Robot® and Etabs® and performed a variety of design and detailing tasks related to concrete structures, construction methods, and AutoCad® production of conceptual and final design plans. Also, I was part of the supervision team assigned as a client representative for several projects, monitoring and inspecting civil works done by contractors.
Key contributions:
• Provided detailed and technical analysis under static and seismic loads.
• Value engineering and production of accurate BBS.
• Specification writing under latest building codes.
• Supervised the construction of a high end building in Beirut Central District currently headquarters of the well-known company Murex.
