Under the general supervision of a Shift Manager, the Campus Safety Officer is a member of a team of public safety specialists responsible for providing personal safety for members for the university community through a courteous, helpful and professional manner. This position provides a highly visual deterrent to campus crime while protecting the property and assets of the university.
Specific Duties Include:
• Providing security for persons, buildings, and assets of the university through a variety of security techniques and methods.
• Responding to requests for assistance and information in a helpful and courteous manner.
• Patrolling the grounds and facilities of the university in a manner consistent with Departmental SOP and University Policy.
• Enforcing appropriate university regulations and policies including, but not limited to parking and traffic regulations.
• Routine involvement in directing vehicular or pedestrian traffic in a variety of situations.
• Assisting designated Campus Safety Officers in their campus law enforcement duties.
• Other duties as assigned
Responsible for safety orientation, safety training, job site inspections and reporting.
2. Maintain awareness of amendments to the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations, and make recommendations for their implementation.
3. Perform job site safety compliance inspections including hazard analysis, safe work procedures, written reports and recommendations.
4. Responsible for monitoring adherence to company safety program by all EllisDon employees and subcontractors.
5. Research, plan, organize and conduct training programs/seminars for EllisDon supervisors and field employees, with regard to WHMIS, Fall protection, Orientation, Personal Protection Equipment, CPR/First Aid, construction-specific related issues, etc.
6. Ensures timely completion of accident/injury reporting to Corporate Office.
7. Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
To conduct inspecting district facilities for compliance with applicable health and safety rules and standards to ensure safe working environment at all times, and to assists the supervision of the refinery site General service Team.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES (1-12)
• Conducts daily health and safety inspections of all facilities to ensure all health and safety polices procedures and practices are being implemented.
• Conducts daily inspections for all Work Permits and ensures the required procedures for approvals and all safety requirements are available for the working area.
• Arranges the personal protective equipment, issuance and make sure that all employees have received Person Protective Equipments (PPEs).
• Provides all the general services of the refinery and ensures good housekeeping practices.
• Inspects the portable fire extinguishers and ensures all are in good conditions.
• Conducts weekly fire pump tests and monthly test for all fire hydrants to comply with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards.
• Monitors pest aside control services in USC site, including Berth 30 & Ware-house to assure the pest aside operations are conducted in designated areas.
• Investigates and reports on accidents, near misses and damage occurrences.
Patrol industrial and commercial premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
Answer alarms and investigate disturbances.
Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises.
Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
Circulate among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property.
Answer telephone calls to take messages, answer questions, and provide information during non-business hours or when switchboard is closed.
Warn persons of rule infractions or violations, and apprehend or evict violators from premises, using force when necessary.
Operate detecting devices to screen individuals and prevent passage of prohibited articles into restricted areas.
Escort or drive motor vehicle to transport individuals to specified locations and to provide personal protection.
Inspect and adjust security systems, equipment, and machinery to ensure operational use and to detect evidence of tampering.
Drive and guard armored vehicle to transport money and valuables to prevent theft and ensure safe delivery.
Monitor and adjust controls that regulate building systems, such as air conditioning, furnace, or boiler.
