Despite the challenging work environment at Wadi Halfa Hospital, my experience was highly rewarding. As one of the senior doctors, my responsibilities extended beyond the Emergency Room to include roles in the General Surgery and Urology Units. Additionally, I was briefly appointed as the Operating Theater Manager, where I oversaw teams including theater nursing staff, anesthesia technicians, and maintenance personnel. My efforts contributed to elevating practice standards and achieving optimal results. The outbreak of civil war significantly increased the hospitals workload, as Wadi Halfa, being a border zone, became a refuge for many. This situation exposed me to heightened stress levels due to the influx of patients with diverse diseases and comorbidities amid wartime conditions and limited resources. This experience enhanced my ability to manage stress, optimize resource utilization, and eficiently handle patients who were stressed, traumatized, and panicked.
