Mouawad brand has more than 125 years of craftsmanship of Jewelry in GCC markets.

I joined as Country General Manager and my role was to lead and manage the operations, responsible for driving the expansion in KSA through implementing long-term strategies and plans to maximize revenues and profitability; whilst building strong teams and operational excellence. To develop and nurture long-term partnership with all internal (and external) stakeholders in the KSA market.

Key Areas of Responsibility:
1. Sales Management:
• Led and managed sales by channel/product category/location.
• Monitored and analyzed performance by sell-out, gross margin, and turnover; translated insights into key selling points and opportunities.
• Ensured all products resonate with customers’ expectations and demand by analyzing customer preferences, loss of sales, CRM review.
• Driving customer experience and ensured the highest level of service is provided across all sales channels (e.g. Boutiques, B2B, Online, etc.).
• Identified new opportunities to augment the brand’s reach to customers to increase sales.

2. P&L Responsibility:
• Budgeting, monitored operating expenses, cash-flow management, receivables, monthly variance reports, analytical dashboards, etc.
• Led year-end closing of financial books, supported external auditors, managed VAT and Zakat formalities.

3. Operational Excellence:
• Defined SOPs for effective, efficient, and agile operations. Conducted audits to assure standards are maintained and identified areas for improvement.
• Maintained and optimized boutiques standards (e.g. cleanliness, odor, A/Cs, music, flowers, catering, staff uniform, staff hygiene, product display, lighting, in-store communications materials, security alarm, CCTV, maintenance, etc.).
• Planed stock-takes and defined stock-control measures to minimize stock losses.
• Led the re-structuring process of Mouawad business entities in KSA (e.g. merge, downsize, teams re-size, etc.).
• Assessed existing boutiques (e.g. performance, P&L bottom line, space, capacity, etc.) and proposed new locations with higher potential.

4. Product Management:
• Reviewed Merchandise requirements for all sales channels; assured every product line’s width/ depth meets the demand. Analyzed sold-out merchandise and identified fast moving, slow moving, Must-Have items, etc. and initiated stock replenishment order.
• Assured full implementation of the brand visual merchandising guidelines inside all KSA boutiques.
• Managed logistics (e.g. shipments, customs clearance, laboratory tests, certification, documentation, pricing/ labeling, inter-branch transfers, etc.).

5. People Management:
• Recruited quality and customer-oriented calibers to join Mouawad, coached them through the induction phase.
• Motivated team members through constructive feedback, ongoing training programs, development tools and succession plans.
• Defined KPIs, conducted yearly performance appraisals; recommended Personal-Development-Plan for employees with potential growth.

6. Marketing Management:
• Developed full-fledged marketing strategy aligned with consumer preferences /taste /demand.
• Estimated marketing budget, set annual calendar, and executed tailor-made campaigns to fit with Saudi culture.
• Assessed marketing activities impact through detailed ROI analysis, acquisition of new prospects, and the overall growth in customers’ universe.
• Analyzed competition offerings, promotional and communications strategies.

7. Expansion Management:
• Selected prime locations, planed capital investment, feasibility studies; managed projects execution and new boutiques opening activities.

8. Legal and Admin: Managed all legal and admin aspects.

Country Operations Manager في Landmark Group – Home Centre

Landmark is one of the largest retail conglomerates with its presence in 20 countries with 7.5 million Sq. M. of retail space and over 50, 000 employees work in 40 brands.

Landmark operates the following portfolio of brands in Egypt: Center point, Baby shop, Splash, Shoe Mart, Shoe Express, Max, Lifestyle and Home Centre.

Home Centre has 80 stores across the Middle East, North Africa and India; Home Centre offers an impressive variety of fine furniture and furnishings, home accessories, kitchenware, outdoor furniture and gift items.

I joined Home Centre in the position of Country Operations Manager, and my role was to oversee retail operations of four stand-alone stores with 19000 Sq.M. of retail space, while to ensure the operational excellence and nurturing culture are enriched in workplace. To work on leveraging the business performance through effective SOPs and plans implementation. Monitoring and analyzing business performance by sell-out, gross margin and turnover and translates insights into key selling points and opportunities. Monitoring inventory levels to suit market needs and potential. Ensuring that all products resonate with customers’ expectations and demand by analyzing customer preferences, loss of sales, CRM review.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

1. Managed and drove sales/ profitability projections for all Home Centre stores; responsible for budgeting & monitored daily operations expenses.

2. Ensured full implementation of Home Centre brand identity in Egyptian market with optimum level of visibility inside all stores.

3. Ensured optimum level of customer service was rendered to customers.

4. Supply chain management, merchandise analysis, stock replenishment; stock-takes, set stock-control measures and applied loss-prevention standards.

5. Managed incentive programs & set commission schemes to boast sales.

6. Planed, budgeted & managed Home Centre ATL& BTL activities - Conducted (thematic / seasonal/ sale/ cross promotions) campaigns in all stores.

7. Managed, motivated and appraised store managers / sales supervisors; set KPIs for retail (e.g. Units per Transaction-UPT, Conversion Rate, Average Selling Price- ASP, Average Transaction Value ATV, etc.)

8. Managed Staff trainings & Brand Orientation program; focused on core aspects, e.g.:
a. Company overview for newcomers; stating company vision & mission, foundation, Products portfolio & Current retail structure.
b. Home Centre SOP “Store Operating Procedures” Induction (e.g. Dress code, Attendance, Remuneration and Commission schemes, Stock Receiving, Transfers, POS system, Daily Reporting, Exchange/Return policy, Retail Loss Prevention, etc.)
c. Home Centre Brand Customer Experience Module “TBCE” induction; focus with each sales associate on how to recognize his/her role as Home Centre Brand ambassador through inspire, engage, deliver, and retain elements in the TBCE process.
d. Product knowledge detailed training secessions, highlight key features & benefits and how to communicate the same to the customers.
e. Home Centre KMP “Key Merchandising Principles” training secessions and highlight store-visibility impact on sales.

9. Monitored competition through on-going analysis of competitive moves, width/in-depth product ranges, pricing, promotional and communications strategies.

10. New expansion: Selected new locations, planed CAPEX, liaised with projects team on the execution and took handover of new stores, identified snags (if any).

General Marketing Corporation “GMC” was founded in 2004 as subsidiary of Sara Group of Companies, The aim of this business was to provide high-end fashion brands through a franchise network of stand-alone boutiques & flagships in Saudi market; the company started with two brands “Salvatore Ferragamo” and “Aigner”.

I joined GMC as Retail Operations Manager, and my role was to lead the expansion of this new company in Saudi market by acquiring new high-end fashion brands - I succeeded to turn out GMC to be one of the fastest growing businesses under SARA group.

The portfolio of brands: Burberry, Salvatore Ferragamo, Etro, Moschino, Aigner, Roberto Cavalli, Sergio Rossi, Ferrari and La Perla.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

1. Led the strategic planning & development of all fashion brands under Sara Group in Saudi Arabia.

2. Managed P&L, prepared budgets, drove sales & profitability projections for all brands/doors. Set cost controls for the retail operations.

3. Managed commercial terms with suppliers to maximize financial benefits, e.g. Inco-Terms, contributions, etc.

4. Managed, motivated, and appraised brand managers/sales teams; set KPIs for retail operations and prepared succession plans.

5. Managed staff trainings; set encouraging incentive programs to boast sales; ensured optimum level of customer service was rendered to customers.

6. Managed seasonal buying, prepared OTB budgets with consideration to sell-thru by line/collection.

7. Stock management based on actual sell-thru%; set stock-control measures to prevent stock losses.

8. Managed ATL/ BTL activities; set annual marketing budget for each brand and assured brands value and credibility are identified by end consumers.

9. Ensured full implementation of brands identity in KSA market and optimized the brands visibility inside all stores/points of sales.

10. Increased market share, maintained proper brand positioning and kept tracking of brands’ performance in the market.
