POSITION: DESIGN ENGINEER, 17/12/12 - TILL DATE

Key Experience in the design & estimation of Fire Protection systems such as sprinkler system for residential, commercial, substation & Industrial units, Oil & Gas (Rig Jack up Barge), Wet riser system, Dry riser system, Fire Suppression systems (special systems), Fire Alarm system, Emergency & Exit light system(central battery system) & familiar with all the NFPA standards & codes which are required for the project.

Duties & Responsibilities:

To assist the Design & Estimation team in the quantity surveying process and in preparing preliminary designs, shop drawings and as built drawings particularly in the Fire Protection Division & execution of the projects.

 To apply knowledge and principles of Fire Detection and Protection theories and regulations through NFPA, UAE Fire & Life Safety Code of Practice etc.

 Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to formulate design, create design and working drawings for the Fire Protection systems as per the Local Civil Defense Authority requirement, NFPA, UAE Fire & Life Safety Code of Practice etc.

 Design Fire Alarm and Fire Fighting systems as per NFPA standard & according to site requirements and clients’ specifications and Civil Defense needs.

 Preparing Quantity Take offs (Bill of Materials/Quantities) for quote purposes for
customers’ inquiries.

 Preparation/Review of the final Bill of Materials/Quantities for the systems to be
in line with the requirements before execution.

 Analysis of the client specs & help, support by giving the technical details of the
project requirement for the initial design to be carried out & to prepare estimation
for the projects.


 Preparing costing & quotation for the projects.

 To assist in guiding & training the subordinates.

 Guiding the draftsmen to prepare shop drawings, detail drawings & other required drawings for the projects.

 Preparing value engineering for the projects in line with the project requirements to reduce the cost of the project.

 Interface with appropriate personnel to resolve issues involved with either design or installation.

 Liaise with Clients / Senior Engineer to ensure an accurate interpretation of project requirements.

 To visit the working sites to prepare design, monitor & coordinate the design for the projects.

 To visit working sites in order to understand the significance of the design and its practical application.

 To help support the development of the Fire & Security Division and the company as a whole.
