Education

Doctorate, Telecommunications
  • at Polytechnic University of Hauts-de-France
  • January 2024

- Thesis title: NOMA-MCM strategies in transmission and reception for advanced vehicular communications in 5G and beyond - Supervisors: Iyad Dayoub and Soumaya Cherkaoui (Polytechnique Montréal). - Thesis description: This thesis constitutes a comprehensive exploration of 5G and beyond technologies specifically tailored to meet the unique requirements of Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) connectivity. The primary objective is a meticulous analysis of Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) technology and Multi-Carrier Modulation (MCM) systems within the V2X application context. At the core of this exploration lies the derivation of a closed-form expression for the maximum sum rate at the physical layer, followed by performance evaluation at the Medium Access Control (MAC) layer. - Thesis committee members: Marion Berbineau, Gustave Eiffel University Kais Hassan, Le Mans University Emmanuel Moulin, UPHF Jean-Pierre Cances (Thesis Committee President), University of Limoges. Based on the reports of 2 specialized rapporteurs, I was allowed to make an oral presentation of my research results before the committee. Based on the defense report written by the committee members, after reading the two written reports, listening to the oral defense of the doctoral thesis, and answering the questions, I was granted the degree of doctor in electronic, microelectronic, nanoelectronic, and microwaves. In France, the PhD work is not graded in the traditional sense. Instead, it goes through a rigorous evaluation process which includes the following steps: 1. Thesis Writing: The PhD candidate writes their thesis based on their research. 2. Validation by Rapporteurs: Once the thesis is written, it needs to be validated by two rapporteurs. These experts in the candidate’s research field review the thesis to ensure it is of sufficient quality to proceed to the next step. 3. Thesis Defense: After the thesis is validated by the rapporteurs, the candidate has the right to “defend” their thesis. This means they present their work orally in front of a jury. This oral examination allows the candidate to present their research method and results, and then discuss them with the jury members. The thesis defense is usually public. 4. Thesis Publication: After the defense, the thesis is published by the university and on the website theses.fr. There is no traditional grading system for PhD work in France. However, the successful completion of these steps is essential to earning the PhD degree. The process is rigorous and ensures that only the highest quality work is awarded a PhD. The French PhD evaluation process is designed to ensure the rigor and quality of the research conducted. It involves a thorough review by experts, an oral defense, and the publication of the thesis. Although there is no grade, the successful completion of these steps signifies that the candidate has met the high standards required for a PhD in France.

Niveau : 96.25% (231/240) The upper secondary education is for 3 years from grade 10 to grade 12. At the beginning of the 11th grade, those who go to "general" secondary school have to choose to continue their study in either the "literary branch" or the "scientific branch". The final exams of the 12th grade (the baccalaureate) are also carried out nationally and at the same time. The result of these exams determines which university, college and specialization the student attends. To do that, the student has to apply through a complicated system called "mufadalah" (Arabic: مفاضلة‎‎).
