Currently working as a Clinical Specialist in the Cardiac Rhythm Management division with Medtronic. Medtronic is a global leader in medical technology, services, and solutions. I have worked as part of a team to achieve Medtronic’s mission to alleviate pain, restore health and extend life. I work on a day to day basis in the Cath Lab supporting consultants during complex cases.

Skills I gained:
• Sign off for brady, tachy and CRT implants.
• Experience in His and LBB implants and how to optimize programming.
• Extensive understanding about Medtronic devices, leads and equipment.
• Optimizing pacing to ensure the patient has the safest and most appropriate
programming to improve their health and lifestyle.
• During lockdown I also took on a role as a Carelink Coach providing training and support to doctors and technicians to manage their patients through home monitoring.
• Ability to adapt and engage with patients and hospital teams to provide the best service during the most difficult times.

Cardiac Physiologist at Our Lady's Children's Hospital

I worked as a Cardiac Physiologist in Our Lady’s Children’s hospital Crumlin since June 2016. During this time I furthered my knowledge of the physiology of congenital heart disease and inherited cardiac conditions. I have also gained experience in catering to patients of all ages with a variety of different needs. I am responsible for the maintenance and troubleshooting of a wide variety of equipment that is used in the department and in the hybrid cardiac catheterization lab and in theatre.
Practically I have gained experience in:
• Performing echocardiograms on patients with complex cardiac conditions from first echo for diagnosis to the follow up post op. This was done using the segmental approach to Congenital Echocardiography.
• Setting up and analyzing holter monitors and event monitors
• Researching new event monitors that may be suitable for our patients, this involved organizing a trial with different companies and a number of suitable patients.
• Performing paediatric ECGs
• Performing exercise stress test and understanding the needs of each patient.
• Implanting pacemakers in the Cath lab and in theatre and ensure each patient is followed up efficiently.
• Working as part of a multidisciplinary team of in the cardiac catheterization lab monitoring cardiac pressures, assisting the consultant using transesophageal echo during cases such as aortic valvuloplasty and ASD/VSD device closures, blood gas assessment, maintaining all of the equipment and ensuring the stock is up to date.
