Expert in European Mediaeval Art joined the Ministry in 1986 where he was mainly engaged in the field of restoration of ancient artworks, like wall paintings cycles and wooden artifacts. Since the nineties he become engaged in the protection of heritage in conflict situations and in the recovery of technical capacities authorities of countries concerned.

The first experiences in crisis situations were done in Balkans, particularly Serbia, Bosnia, Kosovo.

After 2003 war he was engaged in Iraq as co-ordinator of the initiatives undertaken by the Italian side in support of the local authorities, namely the recovery of the restoration laboratories of the Iraqi National Museum.

Other countries of activities have been North Korea, China, Ethiopia, Algeria, Israel, Jordan, Turkey.
