I joined Kapset Tea Factory as
This is a milling firm, dealing in grain milling of maize, wheat and animal feeds.
- I joined the firm as
CHANGOI TEA ESTATE KERICHO (KENYA)
- Joined as Factory and Workshops Foreman in Charge of the following
departments with a total staff of 60 Artisans and mates:
* Factory machinery maintenance.
* Construction and building maintenance.
* Carpentry maintenance services.
* Electrical installations and maintenance.
* Tractors and plant machinery maintenance.
* Maintenance of water pumps and filtration plants
*Estates water supply systems installation and maintenance
* Maintenance of workers’ houses and bungalows.
*Maintenance of recreational facilities.
Advised the management on issues pertaining to the above.
- On joining the entire machinery work in the factory were in a poor state and with
the co - operation of the management, were able to restore them to maintainable
standards.
- During that period, I was involved in the installation of:
* Sorting room’s new machinery arrangement.
*Modification of the Kilburn fluid bed dryers to improve on the dust extraction.
* Installation of a new Bib bill boiler 6 tonnes Steam capacity and piping to the
dryers.
* Implementation of machinery maintenance documentation schedules.
* Fabrication of green leaf trailers and general purpose trailers in yearly basis.
* Installation of new - econosuper greenleaf bag conveyor in withering section 1st
and 2nd
phase.
* Improvement and extension of the 2nd
econo-super conveyor to cover a larger
extent of more withering troughs and floors.
-*Dismantling and re - constructing a new withering trough to take 2 levels of
trays and fitting low noise but high pressure motors.
* Installation of withering heat DF 140 and Duct work to cover all the 25 No. of
Jumbo Withering Troughs.
*Installation works of new generators both in the factory and management
houses.
ASSIGNMENT IN NAIROBI (KENYA)
* In the year 1993, thereabout, I was called upon to dismantle and modify a
waterwide burner DF 150 which was on transit to Far East at JF Mcloy’s
workshop for two days.
* In the year 1996 there was another purchase of the same make of waterwide
burner DF 150 which was on transit to Burundi. This time round I was called
upon to assemble it in total to be transported when fully, ready for firing the work
which I did for 2 days.
ASSIGNMENT IN TINDERET TEA ESTATE (K) LTD IN TINDERET (NANDI)
- To install and pre-cast a water wide DF 155 of the fallen off ceramics and erect
the operators platform and stacking base this work I did for one week.
Back to parent estate and base at Changoi, worked on:
* The installation of 1000 Kg capacity FBD Mcloy dryer with the mcloy engineers
and fabrication as well as fitting the heat feed duct.
* Above all maintained, machinery maintenance schedules every Mondays and
non production operational days.
* In charge of CTC Roller sharpening and fitting into the CTC machines as
scheduled without failure.
* Installed a new stone crusher involving preparation of the ground base, floor
and erection of the building pillars, traces and roofing - installation of switch
gears, the elevator conveyors and the stone grader. All works done under my
supervision.
* Re-position the rolling room machinery by preparing new platforms for the
Greenleaf systems to accommodate 4 lines of new Vikram CTC machines -
which we did install with the engineer from India.
*Preparation of the foundation for the New J.Thomson 7.2Ton Boiler.
ASSIGNEMENT AT MOGOGOSIEK TEA FACTORY IN BOMET A KTDA
COMPANY
- Here I was hired on contract by an agent through the Changoi Tea Estate
management to mark out grout and assist in installation of New 1 No. of Vikram
CTC machine.
- During this tenure, I worked under the following Group Engineers.
(i) Mr Julie More Anyamba (deceased).
(ii) Mr. Zabron Mugo
