Project Support
Defined metering pre-startup scope for Rabab-Harweel Integrated Project. Scope covers key metering activities (water draw, certification, and first proving) liaising with project team, Hydrocarbon Allocation, and metering SMEs. Supervised pre-startup water draw and first proving.
Technical Support
Evaluated several metering technologies in line with PDO uncertainty requirements. Assessed Amal well-test unit field trial results and conducted the measurement uncertainty analysis. Technically reviewed Badr well-test unit as well.
Contributed to solving various metering issues and investigations including meter and instrument selection, sizing, installation requirements, standardization and others. Participated in Nimr production allocation causal analysis to address production mismeasurement.
Audits and Performance Reviews
Performed technical reviews and audits on production measurement systems in PDO. Provided support and follow-up for Main Oil Line audit findings closeout. Focus was on Greater Birba fields, south oil directorate.
Conducted a number of site surveys and visits to assess the status and condition of metering systems.
Good exposure to flow measurement and instrumentation standards including API MPMS, AGA manuals, and ISO orifice flow standards.
Digitalization
Supported production measurement management system implementation and upgrade. Ensuring data quality and integrity for class 1 and class 2 meters in the dashboard.
Field Instrumentation
Performed sizing and selection of instruments and control valves for several changes in Majnoon including storage tanks pressure safety valves, trim/actuator replacement for condensate vessels and others. Participated in several engineering verification activities for brownfield assets. Certified for Smart Plant Instrumentation (INTOOLS / SPI).
Integrated Control and Safety Systems
Experience with (Delta V) including control strategy design and troubleshooting, DCS connectivity and interfacing (OPC). Designed and implemented a control strategy for the instrument air system in one of Majnoon stations. Delivered several change scopes regarding connectivity between DCS and OSI PI systems.
Commissioning
Joined Majnoon commissioning team for 6 months to commission FCP gas project. I contributed to instrumentation scope including site walkdowns, loop testing, instrument calibration and testing and other activities. Also supported Asset Engineering during instrumentation construction/commissioning in the field as required. This includes BoM preparation, instrument calibration, ITR issuance, and site supervision.
Management of Change (MoC)
Responsible for the MoC process for instrumentation and control scope. This includes drafting engineering proposals, work packs, Redline-Mark-up documents, and field execution follow-up.
Operations and Maintenance
Provided regular support to the operations and maintenance teams for instrument, DCS and process control issues and challenges. I contributed to several RCAs, standing alarm reviews, and MoCs. Participated in Majnoon 5-yearly alarm rationalization workshop. Activity involved reviewing ~18000 alarms. Most of the activity done in-house in a cost-saving effort.
Technical Safety Engineering
Represented my team in several TSE activities and workshops (HAZOP, LOPA, SIL), and performed Instrumented Protective Functions (IPF / SIF) management and Safety Integrity Level (SIL) verification calculations. These were performed using Shell SIFPro determine functional test types and frequencies. Participated in Hardware Barrier Analysis activities and supervised some of them. TSE101 certified.
Process Control Domain IT Security
Supported and delivered various parts of the Process Control Domain IT Security infrastructure upgrade project (SecurePlant) in Majnoon. Worked on localizing Majnoon PCD IT procedures. Held PCD IT site focal point role for 1.5 years.
Standards and Practices
Good exposure to international standards: API MPMS, AGA, IEC 61511, IEC 60534, ISO 5167, ISA 18.2 And internal Shell Design and Engineering Practices (DEPs) for PACO Discipline.
Business Interfacing
Represented my team and acted as focal point for FCP gas project. Duties included Business interfacing, requirement gathering and offering solutions in line with Shell IT framework. Interfaced with the project team, OR&A, project services, discipline engineering and other departments.
IT Project Support
Drafting of project initiation notes based on business requirements, making sure these future projects are aligned with the project IT strategy and plans.
Capital Projects IT Deliverables
Preparation of IT strategies, plans and other documents during the different phases of project ORS lifecycle. Provide input / feedback into engineering documents (Basis for Deign, Basic Design Package, etc...). Drafted / contributed to FCP Gas, River Water Project and Sour Gas Project.
