I worked as an intern in the Department of Environmental Health and Safety at UCO in the summer of 2013. I can tell that I have gained variety of knowledge regarding all aspects of safety issues. I have worked in a different areas where safety issues can be exist such as Ergonomics, Electricity, Hot Work, Construction Works, Biological Cabinets and so on. I have discovered that no matter what are the cost of personal protective equipment (PPE) can cost the companies and no matter how much time takes an employee to wear his/her PPE what is really matter is when he/she loses his/her life in the workplace and never go back home to his/her children again.
I took a petroleum Safety class back to the spring of 2013 when I was undergraduate student. It was a weekend class where we had to meet couple days every other weekend. In fact, that class was a practical and pretty much work by getting hands on. Every other weekend my instructor used to scheduled a tour for the whole classmates to visit one or two industries. One day we visited a drilling rig that was located in Oklahoma State. I have seen how employees perform drilling operations and how each employee tried to cooperate with the other one to making sure that everything is going smooth and correctly at the same time. It was a great experience and opportunity for me to learn more about how to perform drilling operations safely as one team.
