- Knows and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of power system automation * and related SEL products.
-Familiar with both Aramco and National Grid standards.
-Familiar with SCADA systems.
-Familiar with common communication protocols IEC-61850 / MODBUS / DNP3.
-Understanding and applying the basics of Network Communications (IP Addresses, switches, routers, etc).
- Train and assist customers with the installation, commissioning and operation of automation and/or protection systems, both on-site and from SEL offices.
- Performs work that is varied and may be somewhat difficult or complex.
- Complete assigned work within agreed upon schedule and budget while focusing on quality and safety.
- Support project and engineering teams in the development of project deliverables.
- Provide regular communication to SEL and customer project management, engineering, and support groups regarding project specifications.
- Document and report technical issues and malfunctions and identify/analyze any undesirable trends.
- Provide support for other SEL marketing, sales, application engineering and development activities.
- Continuously identify, measure, and improve processes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Duties include:
-Study customer specifications to ensure the best design for the distribution transformers (100KVA to 3000KVA) and ensure all the customer specifications are applied.
-Generate bills of materials for the commissioned designs.
-Generate and review lists of required of spare parts for each transformer type.
-Attend kick-off meetings with the customers and the sales department to promptly resolve/finalize pending issues at the design stage.
-Fully familiar with Aramco, Sabic, HCIS, and SEC standards
My time there was spent between the company on-site offices and the construction site. At the offices I was given a tour of the departments, and spent a few day with each of them to better understand their duties towards reaching the project goals.
When I finished the offices I spent my remaining time with my Electrical Engineering supervisor. with him I was given a tour of the company's construction site and the electrical plans to be put into motion.
