My responsibilities include:
Leading and Supervision- Leading the engagement teams through the planning, execution and completion/ finalization stages of statutory audits and validation of financial reporting packages;
Co-ordination and Relationship Management- Engagement management comprising of developing good working relationships with the client and co-ordination with various professionals such as lawyers, actuaries, independent valuators and information technology experts;
Planning and Risk Identification - Review and evaluation of internal control systems, identification of significant control weaknesses and making appropriate recommendations to the management; providing advisory and value added services in various aspects of business improvements therein; and
Finalization of Engagement deliverables- Assisting clients in preparation of financial statements and group reporting packages in accordance with the applicable financial reporting framework including compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), local corporate laws and directives of regulatory authorities;
Value added services to the clients- Advisory services to the clients on the application of various accounting and statutory pronouncements, preparation of management letters, letters to the Board of Directors and other communications to those charged with the governance.
At IIL, a leading manufacturer of Galvanized Iron Pipes, Steel Tubes and Pipes, API Line Pipe & Polyethylene Line Pipes and a market leader in Pakistan, my key responsibilities included the following:
Overseeing consolidation procedures and related accounting treatments for the consolidation of subsidiary company and equity accounted investee, in line with IFRS and local corporate regulations.
Coordinating with the internal and external auditors to share information for periodic reviews and where necessary drive the implementation of corrective actions.
Assisting in preparation and maintenance of corporate budgets and projections.
Developing, maintaining and/or updating Financial Accounting Manual of the company to improve the controls and to ensure compliance with the company’s overall policies & procedures.
Overseeing day to day routine and non-routine activities in relation to Revenue Accounting and Trade Receivables Management including credit control for both domestic & International Sales.
