-Taught Foundation Year students seeking help in learning English outside their formal classroom. This included help in grammar, pronunciation, as well as the understanding of concepts. Facilitated daily discussion groups on a variety of topics targeted towards increasing the students’ fluency in English.
-Started a reading circle that met twice a month where students were given short stories to read and discuss as a group. This was to improve reading comprehension skills as well as literary analysis.
-Began a monthly game day meeting where students played various board games aimed at improving English fluency as well as conversational skills.
-Worked closely with doctors, nurses, and other administrative staff in the completion of daily tasks and projects.
-Managed clinical billing and data entry to ensure documentation of patients as well as the services they received in our clinic.
-Personally requested by doctors to assist in various projects for the section.
-Developed curriculum to help students learn English grammar as well as build vocabulary.
-Built relationships with students and worked to bridge barriers caused by language and culture.
-Dedicated a portion of the lessons to teaching how to attain US citizenship, enroll in college courses, and how to navigate public transportation in Chicago.
-Celebrated culture and diversity in the classroom between myself and the students, and students in relation to each other.
-As part of a one year grant, I was chosen by Professor Nesreen Akhtarkhavari to assist in the training of Arabic teachers in the Chicagoland area.
-Planned and organized monthly meetings and workshops to help certify and train future and current Arabic teachers.
-Provided tools and information to all those interested and was directly involved in the planning of the meetings and workshops.
