The company’s main offices are in Canada and I was leading the operations for the Middle East and Africa regions out of Dubai Internet City. This office was mainly a Sales and marketing office for the telecom service provider. Our services included:
• Provisioning of backhaul international services between carriers (Voice, Data, Content, etc.)
• SaaS telecom solutions that cater to different SMEs and enterprises in many vertical markets (Telecoms, Real Estate, Finance, Oil & Gas and Airlines)
• Providing VAS components to operators which included PBX, WAP, Mobile APPs, MobileTV platform
• Building and integrating Web & Mobile portals to clients which included operators, enterprises and other service providers
The tasks assigned to me included:
* Orchestrating sales strategies for our services by preparing presentations, feeding correctly our CRM, accurate and on time follow ups with clients
* Prepare proposals for clients based on RFQs
* Influence RFQ/RFI creation by maintaining a good relationship with my contacts working for clients and aiding or advising them based on my industry knowledge
* Creating and implementing market penetration plans for the launch of our services.
* Training and supporting staff on sales management activities like account planning, sales campaigns, pipeline development/tracking and guiding them to achieve/ surpass established targets.
* Defined roadmaps for each service development to extend company's services to new sectors.
* Keeping close tabs on market dynamics/ competitor activities and devising effective counter-strategies.
* Consistently surpassed revenue goals and augmented market share by targeting potential clients, developing account strategies, negotiating and closing revenue-generating relationships with leading prospects. Sales of my team was as follows:
1) 2008: 12 million USD (8 million personal achievement)
2) 2009: 18 million USD (10 million personal achievement)
3) 2010: 25 million USD (13 million personal achievement)
4) 2011: 35 million USD (15.5 million personal achievement)
* Building strong relationships with many of the world’s premier telecom carriers to enable interconnection between them and our network. These carriers include: PCCW, Primus, Deutsche Telekom, Etisalat, du, BT, Primus, KDDI Europe, Bell Canada, Level3, Telus Canada, TeliaSonera, STC, Tata Communications, Reliance and others
* Building a network of integrators as channel partners to resell our SME solutions in their territory. Managing those channels and making sure they get all the support they need to make the sales we needed.
* Organized and managed workshops for clients, prospects and channels.
* Project management role for the installation of the Dubai PoP (Point of Presence) for the company and other clients who contracted us for different infrastructure projects.
* Preparing the yearly business plan for the region to indicate market fluctuations and possibilities based on the local knowledge I have and presenting it to the board for approval and budgeting.
* Monthly review and reporting to the board of the company's progress emphasizing the milestones that have been accomplished or not and the steps ahead for the next month.
* Review all sales reports weekly and arranging weekly meetings with the operations team to discuss their performance and solve any issues.
* Monitored traffic and revenue growth and reported on financial performance for each service to higher management and providers as required. * Participating in numerous industry specific telecom exhibitions in order to expand our network of business partners/clients and to get informed of new technologies and services being offered by our competitors.
