PROJECT: Quashwira Phase II Oil Field Development (additional 25Mbd in Q4 2020 & sustain 55Mbd for 3 years)- EPC; Project Cost USD 550m

Responsibilities: Interface Management, Project Coordination, Field Engineering.

EPC Contract executed by Petrofac for production from 114 wells of WAG, Tie in appraisals, Gas Lift, conversion to Gas Lifts and connection to 2 Gathering Stations and a Central Degassing Station. Facili-ties also included a grassroot Gathering station and expansion of one existing Gathering and Degassing station, and interconnecting pipelines.

Position responsible for project coordination, interface management during both Engineering (Home of-fice) and Construction phases, and also Field Engineering related to resolving brownfield and various Contractor interfaces. Internal interfaces included interdisciplinary coordination within PMT, coordina-tion with Contractor to meet end user requirements, interfaces for free issue materials, lead SIMOPS and resolve interfaces with various EPC packages. Major stakeholder interfaces included ADNOC Onshore Operations (end user), Technical Center, Production, Development, Reservoir, Drilling and Geomatics. Prepared and maintained internal and external interface registers, hold interface meetings.

Additional responsibilities included Risk Management- hold Risk workshops, identification of Risks and its mitigation, prepare and monitor Risk register.

PROJECT: Dangote Oil Refinery & Petrochemical Complex- Project Cost USD 16bln
650, 000 BPSD refinery and 600, 000 tpa polypropylene plant. Project also includes a Jetty, 5 SPMs to handle VLCCs of 320, 000 DWT and 8 nos. offshore pipelines with total length of 108kms.

Construction of Oil Terminal and Jetty at Hamriyah Free Zone, Sharjah - Project Cost USD 250m

ADNOC’s terminal for storage and distribution of Gas Oil, ULG-91, ULG-95, ULG-98 and Jet A-1 with 12 product storage tanks of 241, 000 m3. Facilities also included a Jetty with loading arms, pumps, ship/truck loading/offloading equipment, vapour recovery unit, fuel filling station, firefighting, utility installations and three 2.7kms product pipelines and two utility lines from the Terminal to the Jetty.

Responsibilities: Project Coordination, Project Controls, Contract Administration

•Discuss, negotiate and resolve technical, schedule and commercial issues; Coordinate between End user, PMC, Contractors, TPI, Local Authorities.
•Monitor and ensure compliance to FEED, specifications and Contract. Ensure that works are carried out as per the latest & approved drawings and applicable engineering Codes & Standards, End user and Local Authority requirements.
•Review and ensure RFPs / RFQs for subcontracts and proposed vendor supplies are as per Contract specifications. Emphasis on statutory regulations, SOW, schedule and quality.
•Review, comment and approve construction related deliverables submitted by Contractors, including procedures, method statements, ITPs.
•Project progress monitoring and approvals; Review of Project schedule including staff plans, manpower histograms and project progress measurement.
•Management information reports. Review monthly contracts and project progress reports. Presentation of Monthly progress review to Senior Management and End user. Ensure timely issue of reports.
•Participate in all Project Control and Contract meetings; attend contract review meetings and project progress review meetings.
•PMC manhour/cost control - plan PMC manhours/costs; check and approve timesheets.
•Review PMC and Contractors' bills and Progress Payment Certificates.
•Claims Management and Interpretation of Contract clauses. Review/comment/resolve Contractors’ Design change/ concession & deviation requests.
•Ensure that the project team is aware of obstacles/potential threats to the baseline schedule; propose remedial action.
•Ensure that the PMC/Contractor’s Project team members are identified, recruited and are in accordance with minimum requirements specified in the Contract.
•Organize and participate in Hazard and Operability (HAZOP), Safety Integrity Level (SIL), Project Health, Safety and Environment Review (PHSER) and EIA and HSE exercises, 3 D Model reviews and ensure implement the recommendation of such exercises.
•Participate in value engineering workshops for optimizing scope and design.
•Supervision of contractors’ works including engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation, testing, painting, pre-commissioning & commissioning of various Static and Rotary equipment including pumps, compressors, package equipment etc.
•Interface Management between the two EPC Contractors.
•Ensure HSE and Quality control standards are adhered by Contractors. Ensure compliance of material inspections, review and approval of Material Certificates. Ensure that approved materials only are used in the works.
•Supervise and ensure Contractor’s closure of Punch lists.
•Tabulate and present lessons learnt

ADNOC’s Oil Terminal and Jetty at Hamriyah Free Zone, Sharjah
2 Nos. EPC Packages: EPC 1 - Oil Terminal for storage of 241, 000 m3 of Jet A1, ULG, Gas Oil and EPC2 - Jetty. The Terminal to be connected via 3 pipelines to the Jetty with loading and unloading facilities.

Conceptual Engineering, FEED, preparation of 2 nos. of EPC Contractor’s tender Packages, Project cost estimation, evaluation of EPC Contractor bids till selection of EPC Contractor, preparation of Contract documents between COMPANY and EPC Contractors.

Responsibilities: Engineering Management, PMC, Contract Management, Project Controls

•Manage and lead multi-discipline engineering teams.
•Prepare project work sequence, plan activities and engineering deliverables.
•Ensure that the preparation of deliverables and method of execution is compliant with project Quality Management System.
•Develop engineering project schedule and ensure that project team complies with project scope, meet milestones and key performance indicators. Coordinate inter discipline activities and control deliverables against schedule.
•Review and approve Basis of Design, Process Philosophy; gather engineering inputs to the project. Ensure that requirements for design verification are identified and scheduled.
•Coordinate during the preparation of key project documents like P&IDs, Plot Plans, Line list, Equipment list etc. Manage interfaces between Project Engineers of Process, Piping, Civil / Structural, E&I and Mechanical.
•Ensure Safety in engineering.
•Identify risks and implement mitigations.
•Develop manhour estimates and execution strategy for various disciplines during proposal stage.

I was also engaged in Techno-commercial discussions with Clients e.g. GASCO, ADMA OPCO, ADCO, ADNOC Distribution, ZADCO and TAKREER for new Projects bidding. Was responsible for preparation/review of prequalification documents, preparation of proposals, estimation of manhour efforts, Contract review for design detailed engineering and PMC Projects.

PROJECT: SABIC/Agility & Schmidt’s Jubail Port-Side Logistics Project
FEED, preparation of EPC Bid Packages, Project Cost estimates for Jubail Port-Side Logistics Facilities.

Responsibilities are similar to the ADNOC Project above

PROJECT: 590 Km Crude Oil and Gas pipelines from Barmer to Salaya
L&T was awarded the EPC contract by Cairn Energy/ONGC for the EPC for the Export Crude Oil insu-lated pipeline and Gas pipeline from Barmer, Rajasthan to Salaya, Gujarat.

Responsibilities: Project Coordination, Engineering Management, Project Controls

Responsibilities included Project Engineering Management, project documentation, implementation of project procedures, cost time resource charts, Coordination, monitoring of action plans, reporting of pro-ject progress, managing change orders etc. Was also engaged in manhour estimation, proposals review and techno-commercial discussions with clients.

Joined the Company as a Graduate Engineer Trainee. Later worked as a Mechanical Engineer and responsibilities included design engineering, Marketing, Prequalification documents and Proposals prepa-ration, Cost estimation for Process systems such as Gas Conditioning Systems, Filter Separators, Fuel Forwarding Systems, Water Bath Heaters, Heater Treaters, Glycol Dehydration units.
