Currently working as, a Relationship Manager in the FI department, where as a deputy head, I am responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with multilateral organizations, international banks, and domestic institutions. Additionally, I oversee the Secondary Market Distribution Desk.
Job Responsibilities (Deputy Head):
• Establishing and maintaining new relationships (RMAs) with correspondents globally, in line with business appetite, and liaising with them through strong product and service execution to facilitate/promote the bank’s trade business.
• Engaging with multilateral institutions (ADB, IFC), to facilitate the bank’s trade business and support customers’ international business needs, including LC confirmation, risk coverage, and financing.
• Maintain and review Nostro Account relationships with correspondent banks and financial institutions, ensuring compliance with international and local regulatory guidelines by conducting necessary due diligence for existing and new relationships.
• Actively reviewing and renegotiating existing terms, pricing tariffs, and securing better rebates with key correspondents.
• Facilitating trade finance requirements for Corporate, Commercial, and SME clients by discounting trade documents and issuing guarantees through our FI relationships with other banks.
• Analyzing correspondent banks' Trade Clean Lines annually to establish trade FI credit lines in accordance with the bank’s risk policy.
• Reconcile monthly F.I. business and income data to ensure accuracy in F.I. reconciliation processes.
• Actively participating in FI programs, seminars, and meetings to enhance engagements and collaboration with financial institutions, which helps in maintaining and strengthening relationships.
Projects & Achievements:
• Successfully onboarded the Bank of Khyber to the Asian Development Bank (ADB)'s Trade and Supply Chain Finance Program (TSCFP) as a ‘Partner Bank’.
• Prepared an FI department Policy and Operational Manual.
• Established direct relationships with African and European Banks to provide cost-effective solutions for key corporate clients and explore revenue-generating avenues for the bank.
• Established a secondary market asset distribution desk.
I served as a Relationship Manager for the Group FI at Habib Bank AG Zurich (HBZ), oversaw FI operations across eight (8) destinations of the HBZ group, and provided professional customer services to ensure a high percentage of customer satisfaction and retention. Additionally, I managed the operations of the Group’s secondary market desk and maintained a centralized MIS Database for the group.
Job Responsibilities:
Relationship Management:
• Developed strategies to generate new business, and achieve defined targets for various HBZ destinations, focusing on increasing customer volume & revenue growth across different segments.
• Managed the global Secondary Market Trade Distribution Desk for the Group, executed Master Risk Participation Agreements (MRPA) and Master Forfaiting Agreements (MFA) for secondary market transactions.
• Participated in Financial Syndications based on thorough Country and Bank analysis.
• Established and maintained monthly group-wide MIS for Trade Finance, facilitating performance review and business analysis for the HBZ Group.
• Serve as the one-point contact for the higher management of the HBZ group, to provide group reports including Monthly Scorecard and Dashboard, commodity concentration report, product performance, and ad-hoc reports.
Risk Management and Compliance:
• Ensured thorough awareness of all policies, procedures, and compliance requirements across HBZ and its 8 destinations.
• Managed group-wide country and bank trade finance and treasury lines exposure.
• Prepared credit proposals and renewals of country and bank credit limits, presenting them for approval by the Group Credit Management Committee (GCMC).
• Provided analytical support to the CEO - Group FI and Treasury, including business reviews, trend analysis, group presentations, and budget monitoring.
Projects & Achievements:
• Prepared GFI Directive, Process Manual, and Strategy Paper for the HBZ group.
• Developed the business expansion plan in China, Sub-Saharan Africa, Turkey, and The Far East.
• Presented strategy papers for opening Representative Offices for the group globally.
• Successfully onboarded African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) and African Development Bank (AfDB) for the Group.
• Prepared country updates on Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Turkey, & China-US.
• Established a secondary market trade asset distribution desk at Group FI.
• Developed a real-time centralized MIS at a Group level (COGNOS) with the Group IT and operations.
• Planned group participation in IMF, SIBOS, and other international events.
• Designed GFIs’ Marketing Profile for dissemination at international programs like SIBOS, IMF, WB, and ADB Meetings.
• Organized GFI’s Annual Conferences in Dubai.
After completing a six-month Management Trainee Program, I transitioned to the role of Marketing Officer. In this capacity, I was responsible for overseeing both conventional and digital marketing for Habib Metropolitan Bank.
Marketing & Communications:
• Assisted the marketing manager in strategy development, product marketing, and budgeting.
• Collaborated with both conventional and digital media agencies to develop campaigns.
• Managed advertising agencies and executed campaigns, brand activations, and Brand Alliances.
