PROJECT DETAILS
Project title: Terrain Inspection Robot

UGV (unmanned ground vehicle) help humans in war prone environments and other situations like terrorist attacks. An UGV is a robot used to augment the human's capability. Threats by terrorist groups can cause great damage with relatively small effort. On the other hand, disasters in industrial areas may release dangerous and not easily detectable chemicals. The UGV can detect bomb, detect poisonous gas and can also provide more elaborate details about the environment through the wireless video camera. This article describes the design, construction and working of a man-portable unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) . It can also send the location of an enemy or any object like bombs or weapons which it detects during the mission through the GPS receiving modem. The different types of sensors like metal detector and gas sensor are used to detect the bombs, weapons and any poisonous gas in the environment. For metal detection a small parts of metal are placed across the room or lab and the UGV is moved accordingly for bomb detection. For detecting poisonous gas, the UGV is moved to the area of the room where smoke is produced from the match sticks. The wireless communication is established between the operator and the UGV through zigbee modules, one connected to the PC and the other to UGV.
