Modelling and updating the data of the 400/275/132/33/11 kV electrical power system
(transmission and generation) for off-line load flow, short circuit and dynamic analysis.
• Performing power system analysis (load flow, contingencies, short circuit, dynamics and
power balance calculations) for operation of the power system in relation to:
o Seasonal conditions (Forecasted Summer Peak Load conditions, Forecasted Winter
Minimum Load conditions) with respect to topological changes due to outages
(forced outages and maintenance programs) and recommend measures and
strategies for Operation Department based on conclusions drawn from the
analysis.
o Incidents in the power system that require re-dispatch of generation and/or
transmission elements as requested by the Operation Department.
o Requested shutdowns of transmission and /or generation elements. Determine
whether the proposed shutdowns can be executed or need to be rescheduled and
recommend required measures to be taken.
o Review the Under Frequency Load Shedding scheme.
o Review Islanding schemes.
o Actual System Peak Load analysis to identify bottlenecks, overloads and restrictions
following N-1 contingencies and recommend required reinforcements in the power
system.

• Perform power system analysis to determine feasible evacuation schemes for new
proposed power stations and/or traditional generating units in existing power stations
as requested by Power Stations Sector.
• Perform power system analysis to determine feasible evacuation schemes for new
proposed power stations and/or additional generating units in existing power stations
as requested by the Power Station Sector.
• Perform power system analysis to determine feeding schemes for new loads as
requested by the Transmission Electrical Network Sector.
• Perform power system analysis based on specific requests from the different sectors in
the Ministry.
• Reviewing busbar arrangements and determine the optimal configuration to ensure a
reliable supply of power.
