I was based in Mbarara working in the refugee settlements of Nakivale and Oruchinga, Isingiro District.

Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate, support and direct program delivery by monitoring and supporting the staff, Community workers and teachers implementing HIV/AIDS and Community development programs.
Networking and Partnership Building: Establish and maintain partnership through regular consultations with local partners, stakeholders and key beneficiaries.
Work closely with UNHCR and other implementing partners like GTZ, International Medical Corps (IMC) and others to ensure refugee welfare
Project Administrative work that includes, writing evaluation reports of training workshops and provide narrative and quantitative monitoring information to support monthly reports to update Country and Regional Office on project progress.
Project Management Training, Build individual and organizational capacity.
Deliver workshops on a variety of topics in the area of project management including: financial management (budgets, accountability, forecasting); event planning; workshop facilitation; reporting.
Assess on-going training needs/evaluation of the teachers, and community workers and coaches.
Provide monthly updates to UNHCR and other implementing partners on Right To Play activities within the settlement.

Accounts Assistant at Feed The Children International

The major objectives were to ensure donor funds are utilized effectively and efficiently, targeting the most disadvantaged children within the poor communities, IDPs, Refugees, and building capacity through social economic support projects targeting women, children, people affected and infected with HIV/AIDS, and the youth among others.

Responsibilities:

a) Prepare/compile monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports and accountabilities to the funding partners of Feed The Children Uganda within the given time frame.
b) Daily postings of transactions in the ledger system and updating the cash books.
c) Payroll management and making daily cash and cheque payments by preparing vouchers and there after effect the payment.
d) Preparing monthly bank reconciliations for the different accounts of Feed the Children Uganda and making confirmation letters for cheques and any other issues arising in the transactions with the Banks like uncredited, lost or transfer cheques.
e) Monitoring the communities and other organizations that work with Feed the Children Uganda to ensure compliance with the accounting requirements of the organization.
f) Participating in monthly stocktaking and preparing monthly reconciliations of physical stock to the stores.
g) Systematic filling of accounting documents to enable retrieval with ease, ensuring that all payments have supporting documents and attached to the respective payment vouchers.
h) Monitoring and evaluation on the funds (Grants/loans and Goods in Kind) disbursed to clients.
i) Providing necessary information to the Auditors from the Accounts department.
j) Proposal writing, Budgeting and planning for the new and existing projects.
k) Writing of narrative reports in comparison to the budget variance analysis for all donor budgets.
