Project title: Screening For Mental Retardation and Investigation on the role of Folate Metabolism System Gene Polymorphisms in the Etiology of MR
Description of Research Carried out:
•Carried out primary tissue culture of human samples and extensively used Light
Microscope.
•Investigated chromosomal abnormality in Mentally Retarded (MR) patients using
Giemsa Banding technique and confirmed via Fluorescent In vitro Hybridization (FISH)method.
•Detected DNA damage in blood samples of MR patients using Cytokinesis Block
Micronucleus (CBMN) assay as micronucleus formation.
•Analyzed Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) in DNA of MR patients using PCR based genotyping via RFLP and DNA Sequencing.
It is a one year masters which includes 6 months of paid internship. This course mainly includes Computer science applications in the field of Biologicalscience
• September 2011 to March2012: Techniques in Cancer Biology, University of Leicester, United kingdom.
• June 2006 to July 2010: BTech BioInformatics, Bharath University, Chennai, India.
