JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Plans for total nursing care of critically ill patients. 1.1. Gives skilled intensive nursing care to patients
according to their individual needs; utilizing the nursing process or scientific problem-solving approach.
1.2. Alertness in rendering cardio-pulmonary resuscitation especially in emergency situation like Code
99/88.
1.3. Makes a continuous assessment of the patient’s condition and makes accurate recordings of unusual
findings through the use of:

a) Monitoring device - interpreting EKG tracings and dangerous arrhythmias and report to resident
physician on duty immediately for treatment or necessary action.
b) Direct observation - keen observant on the neurological status of patient and report immediately to
resident physician on duty for necessary actions.
c) Physical examination - identifies relevant signs and symptoms that will contribute in establishing a
diagnosis.
d) Knowledge of the different laboratory procedures and its normal values and report to resident
physician the abnormalities noted. 1.4. Must be skillful and able to perform the following:

a) Insert IV fluid and blood extraction when need arise under supervision of a physician.

b) Use of equipment for cardiac monitoring and respiratory assistance such as: MAI, IPPB, Respirometer,
peep, etc.
c) Able to take 12 lead EKG.
d) Must know how to set up oxygen-compressed air in the absence of auxiliaries especially in emergency
situations.
