Create and design courses for different colleges and deanships.
Create storyboards for learning objects (animations, simulations, interactive activities, and videos).
Recommend best strategies & methods for delivering courses and projects.
Develop content on Blackboard including:
o Creating quizzes
o Creating surveys
o Creating discussions
Guiding and assisting faculty members through using the e-learning system.
Create and implement a variety of training programs for the faculty members to empower their e-learning/ virtual teaching capabilities.
A) Major Tasks:
Lead a team of Instructional Designers to carry out different projects.
Work with clients to understand their requirements for a certain course/ project (Needs analysis).
Define the objectives, scope, and vision of the course.
Propose learning solutions based on the clients’ requirements.
Identify the challenges/ risks that might occur and provide convenient solutions to meet the required delivery date.
Create a plan for managing different projects together.
Create high level and detailed designs (E-learning, Instructor Lead Training & Blended Learning).
Create storyboards for E-learning, Mobile/Tablet learning, Game-Based learning and CBT.
Create Student books, Teacher’s guides & other ILT learning material.
Communicate with the development team to execute the course development & review the outputs to make sure they are up to the standards and meet the objectives required by the client.
Communicate with different content development vendors for outsourcing any work as requested.
Follow up with reviews, edits and discuss any queries with the client.
Ensure quality of the overall project.
Do presentations for clients explaining (process, work flow, different levels of development, …etc.)
Communicate with Business Managers with regard to project costs.
Prepare initial business proposals.
Create review checklists based on common/ international/ universal/ internal standards.
Review translated storyboards, courses, proposals & contracts from a technical perspective.
Create client survey checklist.
B) Translation Tasks (English to Arabic & Vice Versa):
Translate e-learning storyboards, materials, resources and courses.
Translate voice over to be recorded in Arabic.
Translate educational textbooks and teaching aids (Abu Dhabi Education Council, Umm Al Qura University, Muscat Bank, ASPIRE Academy, Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, and others).
Translate clients’ needs, requirements and requests documents for the training courses.
Translate contracts, invoices, tenders, proposals, e-mails & other legal documents for the non-Arabic speaking sales team.
Act as an interpreter for the Country Manager during formal meetings with Arab clients.
Translate and brief important phone calls.
Act as a POC between Arabic speaking partners and the marketing team.
• Sit with the assigned SME to discuss the action plan, the objectives, the end user needs and the outline for an assigned project (curriculum)
• Use the ADDIE model to create a design document for the assigned course that includes an analysis for the nature of the course, audience background, classroom requirements and the division of the course into Modules & Lessons.
• Create a project plan with the delivery phases, milestones & final delivery deadline to be reviewed & signed alongside with the design document from the manager, the assigned SME (s) and the Chief of Training of the Navy.
• Lead a team of 2 curriculum developers & 1 Multimedia Designer.
• Discuss the vision of the course with the 2 developers, divide up the work over and assign tasks.
• Get a weekly task sheet with a status update.
• Send a bi-weekly status update on the course progress to the manager.
• Meet with other Instructional Designers to discuss the similarities between the different under-development courses that would help in speeding up the process.
• Prepare a monthly report with the overall progress, any challenges for the MSR with the Admiral in charge of the Training Department of the Navy.
• Do 1 on 1 meetings every now and then with the team members to ensure everything is going as planned and with no challenges
• Make sure that the assigned SME for the course is updated with any modifications or additions done and have him review each phase before delivery
• Co-ordinate with the Multimedia Lead the deadlines for delivering the media to be in parallel with the course delivery
• Ensure that the team is following the CDC standards for creating a blended learning experience and creating top notch quality
• Do all the tasks of the Curriculum Developer as well as a member in the course team
• Train new members to the center and have them acquainted to the system and the work environment.
• Call for CDC meeting when changes are needed to be done to our standards
o General English Courses (True beginners, Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper Intermediate & Advanced)
o Business Writing Courses
o Formal E-mail Writing Courses
Job Duties:
- Prepare the PowerPoint slides to aid the learning process.
- Prepare extra material & handouts for the lessons taught.
- Prepare classroom activities for the students depending on their age and level.
- Bring videos that would help in explaining some topics.
- Prepare quizzes and the final exam that ensures testing all learning points that has been taught in the course
- Prepare the assessment sheet for all students with their grades on the overall performance in the classroom and in the tests carried out
- Gather and read different resources about the content for a curriculum/ course that needs development
- Search for more resources via the internet (If Possible & available)
- Consult the SMEs (Navy Officers) about the content that needs development
- develop a Student Guide, an Instructor Guide & PowerPoint Slides for the course using the latest teaching methods & techniques
- Write story boards for the Multimedia team to develop interactive activities, self-running animations, videos & 3D simulations
- Prepare graphic requests for the Multimedia team to create learning aids like: posters, handouts, flash cards, illustrating charts, …etc
- Help in recording voice narration for self-running animations, activities & videos (dubbing)
- Shoot videos and static images at the Naval Base that would help in the learning process with the help of the SME & the crew on board of the ships
- Prepare a Practical Training Sheet with the directions of the On Job Training (OJT) for the Navy Enlisted
- Review the developed course (thorough review & QA)
- Prepare tests with their model answers
- Prepare practical tests for the parts they were trained on
- Validate the technical information with the SME before delivery
- Send out a printing request for the print house with all required inputs
Work with Adobe Photoshop & InDesign to help the graphic designers with their work.
