• Advises Managing Directors of the various business units on corporate HSE strategy.
• Develops HSE related policies, guidelines and systems to deliver a safe operation.
• Leads high severity incident investigations.
• Cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for APMT in hearings, lawsuits and insurance investigations.
• Represents the company with government organizations to ensure a mutual understanding of organisational goals and requirements, and co-operate with terminal resources to ensure compliance with local and international legislation and guidelines.
• Establishes internal and external networks to seek out best practices and ensure continuous improvement within the business units.
• Audit and submits HSE reports required by regulatory agencies, shipping lines and company interests.
• Audit facilities and assesses safety management system and operating procedures to detect existing or potential hazards.
• Responsible for all of the policies, practices, and operations for the Safety, Health, Environmental, and Security functions within the Terminal.
• Implementation of HSE management system.
• Ensure compliance to safe working practices and achieve global target of zero injury / zero fatality.
• Apply the overall APM Terminals standards and guidelines on HSSE.
• Represent the company with local government organizations related to safety, security and health, in order to ensure a mutual understanding of the Company’s goals and requirements, and to work in a cooperative partnership with local resources.
• Prepare facility audits to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determine corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follow-up to ensure measures have been implemented.
• Responsible for setting and achieving the budget for the HSSE department. Coordinate studies and analyses of industrial accident causes and hazards to health for use by company personnel and outside agencies.
• Lead critical accident/incident investigation.
• Ensure that all safety, security & environmental issues are managed fulfilling the requirements of all the regulations applicable by National laws.
• Ensure that all damage claims are handled fulfilling the requirements of all the regulations applicable according to national and international laws (maritime laws).
• Ensure that emergencies are handled fulfilling the requirements of the regulations applicable nationally & internationally
