Working as Protection and Electrical Maintenance Engineer since March 2008 in 1450 MW, Ghazi Barotha power plant and 500KV Switchyard with following duties;
1. Testing and Settings of the following protective relays regarding generator, transformer and transmission lines.
ABB REG 316, REL 512 and RET 541

Over current relays MCGG 22, 62, 82 (ALSTOM)

2. Relay Setting Calculations.
Line Over voltage Relay MVTD 12 & MVTU 12.
Shunt Reactor over current Protection MCGG 82.
Shunt Reactor REF Protection MFAC 14 & MFAC 34.
Installation and revision of the settings of ABB, Siemens and Dirct logic numerical relays.
3. HV System and Power Transformers

Repair and maintenance of 500KV Bus bar and SF6 circuit breakers
4. LV and DC System
Repair and maintenance of LV Switch gears, breakers, Bus bars, MCB, disconnect Switches, UPS and Aux Transformers
5. Unit Excitation system
The static excitation system used at Barotha power complex is Unitrol-P.The system includes thyrister bridges and electronic control system. The trouble shooting includes:
Repair and maintenance of ventilation unit.
Replacement of defective PCB cards in converter electronics, measuring interface etc.
Trouble shooting of field circuit breaker.
6. Operational duties during overtime
Testing and calibration of different gauges, indicators, flow switches, meters, alarm and trip system of gen. T/f and 500Kv breakers, Documentation of tests and troubleshooting results. Preparation work schedule, progress reports, fault reports, cancellation of trouble reports, fault finding with the help of schematic drawings.
Having a complete liaison with national Power control Center regarding system parameters like Load, Voltage and frequency or arranging any shutdown.

Ghazi-Barotha Project Power Generation Project of Pakistan WAPDA with an installed capacity of 1450MW with the advance technology of DCS and numerical protection. The power house comprises of five generating units, 500KV and 220KV switchyard, Medium Voltage and Low Voltage switchgear, and Diesel Generator.
a) I worked as shift engineer and my duties were;
Having a complete liaison with National Control Centre regarding the system condition, parameters like frequency, load, voltages etc and arranging any proposed or emergency shut down on lines or generating units.
Start/stop of five numbers of units through DCS remote or hard wire or DCS local.
Operation of 500kv, 11kv and 400v switch gears through local or remote DCS.
Issuing P.T.Ws and S.P.Tags to the maintenance engineers for routine and emergency maintenance.
Keeping an eye on the system parameters like frequency, system voltages, line loadings, unit loadings etc.
Preparation of daily synopsis, calculation of energy sheets on daily basis, log sheets etc.
Preparing trouble reports on any abnormal conditions, alarms, tripping etc.
Restoration of system after total and partial system collapse.
Assigning duties and regulating leaves of technical staff members.
b) In addition to operation duties trouble shooting /Maintenance of lighting system of Power House and LV system. LV System includes
