Joined the multinational - well known - company in the field of software development for transportation engineering as an offshore independent technical consultant - doing software testing, participating in software development and review - preparing technical materials and giving technical and educational webinars to Middle East customers.
My working area include: NEXUS software (for intersection design), TORUS software (for roundabout design), Site CEM (for site grading and design), ParkCAD (for parking design) and of course: Civil 3D and AutoTURN.

Transportation Design Manager / Head of Department.
Re-joined the team after being back from KSA first as part time - due to short of work in Egypt - then promoted as full time - Head of Transportation Engineering Department following the previous department manager who traveled to KSA).
My main job objective was to run the firm business in transportation engineering sector and promote it.
I was glad to hear that the firm had won some projects I had prepared its technical and financial proposals after I left the company.

Responsibilities:
• Manage, supervise and follow-up of roads / highways / transportation design projects.
• Interview, hire and manage department staff.
• Monitor department budget and expenses.
• Prepare proposals for different projects -for ex:
- Sitabila-Dharke alternative Corridor - Kathamandu/Nepal,
- Upgrading Alexandia Al-Nozha Airport,
- Zamil Ship Yard roads and transport facilities.
I was very glad to know that the company had won two of the projects I participated in writing technical and financial proposals to them after I left.

Lead Design Engineer (Roads, Highways); Head of Design Section (Jeddah) at Zuhair Fayez Partnership - KSA

Lead office staff in roads, highways, and other transportation design projects, including design of highway interchanges, bridges, and tunnels.
Served as project manager for Mecca east west corridor project while working as the design manager; supervised preparation of design packages for different disciplines and tender documents; reviewed the BOQ, and attended meetings with clients and awarded contractors.
Worked also as the technical consultant (roads and highways design projects) for Dammam municipality design and studies department in Dammam municipality upgrading project.

Worked as head of roads and highways design section in the transportation department - I was responsible for supervising all roads and highways design projects, assigning resources, tracking progress, and review all design output documents.

• Cairo/Alexandria freeway (220 km freeway including 5 and interchanges and two overpasses)
• Shoubra-Banha freeway (40 Km freeway with 3 major interchanges and 9 overpasses).
• Luxor - Hurgadah main railway line (main centerline line)
• Industrial City in Aden roads network - Aden - Yemen
• Road network in Tajoura suburban community - Tripoli - Libya

Senior Design Engineer at Parsons
  • United Arab Emirates - Dubai
  • November 2007 to October 2008

Worked as senior roads & highways design engineer / also as assistant project manager for Dubai integrated addressing system.
Involved in various design projects, including urban roads networks in the Emirate of Dubai.
Forced to leave UAE and return back home (Egypt) due to serious back problem (disk prolapse).
Fortunately recovered completely without surgery after 3 months of physiotherapy.

Infrastructure Design Manager following Infrastructure Design Coordinator at TAV

Started as infrastructure design coordinator for the Cairo airport project: participating in the design works for the airport civil engineering packages including landside roads, apron service roads, apron bays and taxiways, storm water drainage, coordinating between different design teams - pointing out conflicts - respond to site inquiries - and held coordination meetings.
Promoted later as infrastructure design manager: leading design teams for producing coordinated workshop drawings for airside & land side roads, airside taxiways, apron design, reviewing different contract design packages for the airport including: storm water drainage, fire fighting, fuel hydrants, water supply, landscaping and layout to inspect consistency, coordination - lead design teams and subcontractors to produce coordinated infrastructure workshop drawings to provide timely & accurate design data for construction teams on site.

Senior Highway Design Engineer - Department of Transportation at Dar Al-Handasah ( Shair & Partners )
