Taught EFL to women vocational students; curriculum development for business; administrative work; taught summer courses in yoga and photography
I taught EFL to approximately 200 students per week. I present curriculum to teaching listening, speaking, reading, writing, and presentation skills. I also do a good deal of administrative work and use educational technology to enhance learning.
Teacher of ESL to learners with immigrant or refugee status; curriculum development
I helped design a program called "College Connection" to help students in Maine enter the community college system. I was responsible for some of the administrative work, including setting up the Accuplacer exam, which is required in incoming students. I also designed the English curriculum and used educational technology as part of my instruction.
Assisted in coordination of rural community health program; initiated a micro-loan and savings program for rural women.
I created a program called "English for Professional Communication" designed for international students coming to study at the Harvard School of Public Health. Classes included instruction in individual and group presentation, study skills, note taking, and writing in English. This was a summer position, which I did for five years.
Senior Lecturer in EFL for twenty years; teaching in Japan was part of my duties where I was part of team preparing Japanese business students to study at Boston University.
I also coordinated the TOEFL and did administrative work, which included visiting and critiquing classes of new teachers and organizing student placement into appropriate level classes.

I carried out research in several sub-Saharan countries on the effectiveness of NGOs working under the auspices of an umbrella organization. I made 3 trips to Africa over a period of two years.
I administered a test to all students to place them in appropriate levels of English classes. I taught various levels of listening, speaking, reading, writing, and grammar. On occasion, I held meetings with the Nigerian English teachers.
Undergraduate in French; spent junior year in Paris at the Sorbonne program for language and literature.
