Completed a one-month internship at Kerala Road Fund Board, where I gained practical exposure to road and bridge infrastructure projects. The internship involved site visits to highway, bridge, and protection work projects, providing valuable insight into construction methodologies, project execution, quality control, and infrastructure management.
During the internship, I observed various stages of road construction, including pavement layer preparation, drainage systems, slope stabilization measures, retaining walls, and breast walls. I also studied the construction of bow-string arch bridges, pile foundations, prestressed concrete systems, and bridge bearings, enhancing my understanding of structural and transportation engineering concepts.
Additionally, I participated in quantity surveying and estimation activities for road widening projects. This included site measurements, preparation of sketches and drawings, property valuation, BOQ preparation, and exposure to estimation software. The experience strengthened my technical knowledge, analytical skills, teamwork, and understanding of real-world civil engineering practices.
