AMIDEAST is a leading American non-profit organization engaged in international education, training and development activities in the Middle East and North Africa.
MEPI fosters participation in events such as advocacy campaigns, leadership workshops, multi-media training courses, conflict resolution workshops, youth activism, debate and negotiation skills training.
• Anchor all activities to oversee the operation of MEPI Alumni activities and projects within Palestine.
• Promote the capacity of civil society organizations and provided a platform for the MEPI alumni to exchange their opinions/expertise, increase alumni involvement in the community and promote mutual understanding within the local society and international community.
• Organize training and development activities such as leadership workshops, multi-media training courses and skill building activities, besides advocacy campaigns.
• Define the agenda for projects and activities to foster positive change in the lives of Palestinians, in compliance with the Statement of Work (SOW) and budget agreed upon by MEPI and AMIDEAST.
• Monitor the MEPI Alumni Network budget and manage the bidding process for all MEPI alumni network events and activities.
• Responsible for hiring and selection of, volunteers and contract employees, along with providing technical assistance and direction to alumni members engaged in chapter activities.
• Maintain close contact with US Embassy officials and MEPI staff in Washington DC to provide information updates on program/project progress and operational activities, besides periodical reports.
• Provide effective responses to requests for information from AMIDEAST, US Embassy officials and MEPI staff in Washington DC.
• Organized meetings/workshops attended by DC Staff officers to promote discussion of their experiences and shared success stories with the MEPI alumni.
• Create and maintain database and spreadsheet files of, records of grant proposals, by-laws, meeting minutes, program objective documents, budgets, and program and personnel policies.
• Implements AMIDEAST’s contractual obligations to the sponsor in keeping with program goals through interpretation and implementation of policies and objectives.
• Provide effective response to alumni queries regarding memberships with focus on increasing membership through new members and renewals, besides maintenance of membership data.
• Communicate with Outreach team on outreach and publicity strategies; responsible for advertising of the local alumni chapter, across multiple contact channels to increase visibility and membership.
• Serve as Representative of the Palestinian MEPI Alumni Network in public/media events and press interviews, to represent the best interests of the organization, and to promote visibility and membership.
• Provide expertise in identification of topics for training, preparation of training materials and manage all activities to organize training programs to impart training to alumni chapter members.
• Oversee the administration of an annual survey, in coordination with the local chapter steering committee, to measure alumni interests and opinions.
• Organizes and facilitates review panels and other meetings, and prepare schedules for visitors from internal and external contacts, including arrangements for accommodation and transportation for alumni.
Accomplishments
• Successfully built the MEPI Alumni chapter from the ground up and established it as a role model for other chapters.
• Achieved dramatic increase in the number of the MEPI alumni and significantly improved the level of participation and engagement of the MEPI alumni.
• Initiated the development of a newsletter as an additional responsibility.
• Identified many creative solutions for expanding the scope of activities within budgetary constraints.
• Managed additional responsibility for organizing Training-of-Trainers (TOT) for over 30 alumni of multiple Exchange Programs funded by US Department of State.
• Coordinated numerous environmental awareness activities across more than 11 schools with over 3000 students across cities in West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza strip.
Performed various administrative tasks through job rotation at the HR and Finance department.
Provided logistical assistance during events and workshops that included; welcoming participants and providing them with their name tags, event packages, showing directions, and offering translation when needed.
Assisted the team leader in translation, reports skimming, , faxing, photocopying, typing, filing and other related tasks to help in evaluating the aids that come to Palestinians through European Union.
