Engineer at Atwell, LLC
  • United States - Saint Louis
  • April 2023 to June 2023
Transmission Engineer at Power Engineers
  • United States - Saint Louis
  • May 2020 to April 2023

• Developed robust team work, multitasking, time management, technical, research, client cooperation, modeling, material accounting, structural/conductor design, detailed report assembly/analysis, professional writing/reciprocation and presentation skills throughout the various projects that I engaged in and saw to completion.
• Engaged in Level 2 spotting efforts for a 600kV DC Lattice Tower line spanning through Kansas, the Missouri River and Missouri. Efforts consisted of tower shifts, complete reroutes, accommodations of land owner requests, reviews of condemnation parcels, assembly of thorough action summaries, coordination with environmental, developmental and engineering teams, heavy PLS-CADD analysis, development of complex formula based schedule of values spreadsheet used in accounting for assemblies, tower/leg extension quantities and quantities for all tower types. Analyzed the loading impacts on towers for multiple conductor alternatives that were considered for the tower’s metallic return conductors after a decision was made for the transmission line to carry a higher ampacity. Updated the loading schedules of multiple tower types for each potential alternative MRC conductor as well as checked load trees for each tower type. Updated LCA files (vertical/longitudinal/transverse vector loads for all weather cases) for multiple tower types as well as checked other updated LCA files in PLS-TOWER. These LCA files were then sent to a steel vendor to determine the geometric impacts of the increased loading on the towers in order to determine feasibility with respect to initial designs. Updated (in coordination with drafter and PE) and checked lattice tower performance drawings as a consequence of the selection of a new MRC conductor for the main transmission line. Performed similar analysis and updates for the Missouri River crossing segment of the model, which contained substantially taller Deadend towers. Created a railroad crossing exhibit in the drafting aspect of PLS-CADD, then developed a procedure for all engineering teams to follow in order to create their respective crossing exhibits for all crossing features in each of their models. Accommodated this crossing exhibit procedure with a custom plan & profile settings file as well as custom title block border and legend DXF files.
• Successfully contributed towards the completion of construction packages for ten different transmission line projects as well as an assortment of various other projects in which I played minor engineering aid roles in. Eight of the mentioned major projects were parallel substation re-termination efforts in which new custom steel H-frame structures were installed (which supported 115kV transmission conductors, Fiber OPGW cables and OPGW wires). Another such project involved a substation termination effort and consisted of one wooden terminal dead end monopole that supported transmission/distribution conductors, one wooden H-Frame switch structure and four custom terminal dead end steel poles (with flange/base plates, foundations and anchor bolts. Two of which were switch structures).
• Created multifarious construction structure drawings along with construction notes and Bill of Materials for each structure type in coordination with drafters and independent reviews of P.E.
• Modeled project specific transmission conductors and supported distribution conductors along with all crossing lines and circuits in PLS-CADD.
• Rigorously analyzed steel/wood structure strength properties, design configurations and geometry against NESC and client structure loading criteria as to successfully produce a transmission line system that is capable of supporting select transmission line cables.

Education

Bachelor's degree, Civil Engineering And Architecture
  • at Washington University In St. Louis
  • May 2021

• Led group in theoretical construction engineering project that consisted of modeling a three-story office building (AutoCAD). Model featured sequestered offices, staircases, an elevator, basement level parking and surface level parking. Project included a detailed month by month schedule breakdown of every phase of the project, cost estimation of each segment of the project and a meticulous outline of our scope of work. • Collaborated with team of three students in the development of an inclined writing instrument, designed to alleviate student neck pain and bad posture. All designs were performed in CAD SOLIDWORKS. • Designed a truss capable of supporting a ten-thousand-pound engine, first by hand, then modeled the sketch on CAD solid works with the consideration of all calculated forces, reactions, stresses, bolt diameters, link spans and ultimate factor of safety. • Coded a program in VBA that aids students in properly managing their academic time. Program utilizes a series of user inputs and answers in order to generate a recommended schedule and supplementary Gantt chart.
