• In collaboration with the Senior Manager HR & ED, plan lead and manage the Learning & Workforce Development functions at PJV working closely with Operational Departments and Training teams in the various capacities on policy and process development to ensure learning and development initiatives and services provided is in line with PJV business objectives. Also, to be the link between the PJV Learning and Development team and external regulatory bodies (DLIR, NTC, NATTB, National & Provincial TVET), other professional bodies and external training providers.

• Manage, monitor and maintain the PJV RTO - Porgera Training Centre: RTO # NTC-178 in compliance to the three (3) PNG National Training Council (NTC) RTO Standards for Trainers, Courses, and Facilities, in accordance with the NTC Act 1991.

• As Master Trainer of Porgera Joint Venture Training Centre (RTO # NTC178), ensure continuous development and up-skilling of all in-house trainers and instructors for appropriate accreditation and industry currency to facilitate programs in their respective fields/trades for the 3, 500 plus Barrick Porgera workforce.

• Manage and administer Performance Management process (both the online and paper-based) ensuring that it is complied with company-wide, and administer and monitor any ensuing Performance Improvement Plans.

• Coordinate the site-wide identified High Potential Talent Development process in alignment with individual Succession Plans and approved Professional Development Pathways.

• Coordinated, project-managed and completed for roll-out the Online Induction Training Program for the new Porgera Joint Venture in preparation for re-start of mine for re-hires and new hires to complete the induction before traveling onto site for on-boarding and commencement of their work engagements at the mine.

• Provide intellectual leadership and professional advice to senior management, line managers, and employees on strategic employee organisational and learning & development initiatives and opportunities for maximum impact to Porgera Joint Venture Operations.

• Continue to maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation, with PNG National Government authorities, tertiary and VET institutions, external partner and Registered Training Organisations both in PNG and Australia.

• In consultation with the HR & Training Manager and the HV Business Leadership Team, plan lead and manage the Professional Training and People Development functions at HV and MMJV sites working closely with Operational Training teams in the various capacities on policy and process development to ensure training and development provided is in line with HV business objectives. Also to be the link between the HV Training and Development team and external regulatory bodies (DLIR, MRA, NTC, NATTB, National & Provincial TVET), other professional bodies and external training providers.

• Coordinated and compiled the Employment and Training Plan (Annexure B) as attachment to the 10 year old MMJV and stakeholders’ Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) being revised

• Led & coordinated the Workforce Training & Development planning and setting systems and processes in place for implementation of recruiting, on-boarding and training “green hires” from local communities and FIFO hires within country for commencement (development & construction) of the new (Newcrest 50% & Harmony 50%) Wafi-Golpu mining project and on-going construction work at HVK Stage 5 at Harmony 100% owned and refinanced Hidden Valley mine.
• Lead Scheduler & Administrator of the My Potentia Psychological Assessment to determine a new candidate’s potential, capability and trainability, especially for new “green hires” from local communities and FIFO hires within country for commencement (development & construction) of the new (Newcrest 50% & Harmony 50%) Wafi-Golpu mining project and on-going development work at the refinanced Harmony 100% owned Hidden Valley mine.

• Submission for the introduction and roll out of the Apprenticeship & Trade Testing Program and the Graduate Development Program at Hidden Valley mine for cost effective in-built sustainability of its technical and professional workforce.

• Guided the compilation of the Morobe Mine’s Three Year Training Plan (2012 - 2014) to the PNG National Training Council, and the Department of Labour & Industrial Relations in 2015.

• As Master Trainer of Morobe Mining Professional Training Centre (RTO # NTC168), ensured development and up-skilling of all in-house trainers and instructors for appropriate accreditation and industry currency to facilitate programs in their respective fields/trades for the 1, 300 plus Hidden Valley workforce.

• Coordination of the HR Leadership Training Program and the Supervisory Development Program Level 1 - 2 for the leadership development of Hidden Valley employees and coordination of other external study and training programs for employees.

• Continue to maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation, with PNG National Government authorities, tertiary and VET institutions and external partner Registered Training Organisations in PNG & Australia.

Superintendent HR Learning and Development - Lihir Gold Mine, PNG في Newcrest Mining

• In liaison with Corporate L&D in Melbourne, led and set direction for the L&D function for the Newcrest Lihir site. This involved managing the annual budget of approximately AUD$1 million to ensure effective provision of short in-house courses, supervisory courses, and coordination of longer modular block-based certificate programs, and the 2-year Diploma of Management program for Newcrest Lihir Superintendents and Senior Professionals.

• Provided professional advice to senior & line management, and employees on strategic HR and employee learning & development initiatives and opportunities for maximum impact to Newcrest Lihir Operations.

• Liaised with Corporate L&D in Melbourne to source, customise, and coordinate all generic Newcrest-wide Management, Leadership, and professional training and development programs for employees at Lihir Island operations including the Graduate Development, Industrial Traineeships, and Tertiary Scholarship/Sponsorship programs.

• Assist in sourcing and coordinated the “Coaching for High Performance”, and the Lihir Frontline Management Programs for supervisory and leadership employees of Newcrest Lihir, plus on site coordination of the Newcrest Superintendents (Diploma of Management) Program, to deliver comprehensive development of leaders at all levels bringing to life “Seeking High Performance in Ourselves and Others”

• Compiled and submitted the Newcrest Mining Lihir Operations Three Year Training Plan (2011 - 2013) to the PNG National Training Council, and the Department of Labour & Industrial Relations.

• As Master Trainer of Newcrest Professional Development Training Centre (RTO # NTC005), ensured development and up-skilling of all in-house trainers and instructors for appropriate accreditation and industry currency to facilitate programs in their respective fields/trades for the 2, 200 plus Newcrest Lihir workforce.

• Successfully managed and coordinated the placement of the Office Administration Program Trainees, Tertiary Industrial Trainees, Graduate Development Program cadets into the workforce of up to 100 young men and women in 2013 and 2014.

• Assisted the Human Resource Manager in leading and overseeing all Human Resource functional areas for the Newcrest Lihir site. This involved setting direction and monitoring of all planned activities to provide cost-effective and efficient HR services to the Newcrest Lihir operations, plus reporting to Corporate Melbourne Office. This also included the total management and administration of the Telikom Salary Administration policy, procedures and processes, and the maintenance of the National Staff, National Contract, and Expatriate Contract wages and benefits packages.

• Successfully sought approval from the PNG Labour & Industrial Relations Department for the review, award and payment to qualified tradespersons their correct domestic market and trade allowances.

• Member of the “Hamamas” Project team which successfully implemented the Year-2000 compliant Concept Human Resource Management System. The core modules of Establishment, Payroll, Leave and Personnel were commissioned in July 1999 to replace the old Lattice (CHRIS) System.
