- Making relevant editorial choices, crafting appealing headlines and teaser copy.
- Contribute ideas on commissioning and content acquisition to the editors and sales teams.
- Provide and edit articles on a daily basis, develop feature and special execution ideas.
- Meet targets and deliver on traffic performance indicators.
- Prepare ideas and reviewed script of Yahoo Celebrity show OMG Nujoum.
In addition to my tasks as a Projects Editor, i do the tasks of the Front Page Editor on daily basis & this includes:
-Identify the best content on Yahoo network of specialized sites and promote it to the broad front page audience
-Direct traffic into the Yahoo! network, ensuring individual sites meet traffic targets
- Work with in-house and external editors to ensure major stories are covered on Yahoo! in a timely fashion, and in a way that will engage users
- Use analytics tools to identify trends to ensure Yahoo is covering all trending stories.
-Identify technical issues and ensure they are solved properly in order to not ruin user
- Supervising a team consisting of staff writers, editors, translator, proofreaders, photo editor, and data-entry staff.
- Overseeing all editorial activities in the newsroom, as I review every article produced by the writers, can demand material to be added to or subtracted from the piece; demand or make corrections; or reject the story. I also determine the importance of a story, which influences its placement in the website.
- Editing news in all fields “Politics, Life style, Sports, Arts..etc” and dealing with news agencies such as AFP, Reuters, DPA & MENA.
- Translating articles from English or French into Arabic.
- Ability to use CMS program to upload news and pictures on the website.
- Ability to edit pictures.
- Managing users’ comments on the news.
- Ability to search online for the exact information needed.
Additional information:
Number of my articles “in Arabic language” were published in Shorouk newspaper. I translated number of French and English articles to the “Sports Page” in the newspaper.
