• Part of the Inclusion team, responsible for planning and delivering of schemes of work for Key Stage 1, 2, 3 and 4 English, Math, functional skills, social emotional, fine motor support lessons working alongside both departments and their current schemes of work.
• Working one to one with particular wave 3 students and creating target tailored termly targets and lessons, following recommendations from Education Psychologist reports and Speech and Language Therapist reports. The recommendations were also shared with the class teachers to ensure the practices were embedded into the student’s daily lessons.
• Setting Individual Education Plan (IEP) targets for Wave 3 students and writing weekly reports to parents detailing the topic taught and progress of the student that week, any homework set was also sent weekly directly to parents. Attending regular meetings with parents termly to discuss current progress test reports and the following terms targets.
• Training and supporting the Learning Support Assistants (LSA’s) throughout the year and examining their weekly reports before sending them to parents.
• Responsible for applying for access arrangements for GCSE and A-Level students, whilst working closely with the examination officer, educational psychologists, parents, and exam governing bodies in the UK.
• Successfully introduced and delivered a new Pearson Entry Level qualification, allowing students to complete the Entry Level English, Maths and Science qualifications. This role also entailed being an internal verifier for Entry Level exams. Also introduced Lexia phonics program and delivering training to staff and monitoring the program for students.
• Part of the Inclusion team, responsible for planning and delivering specialised English, EAL curriculum, teaching phonics, spelling, and comprehension for Years 1 - 3 and teaching the English Schemes of Work for Years 4 - 6.
• Working one to one with particular wave 3 students and creating target tailored lessons, following recommendations from Education Psychologist reports and Speech and Language Therapist reports.
• Setting Individual Action Plan (IAP) targets for Wave 3 students and writing weekly reports documenting students’ progress towards reaching the targets set for that term. Attending regular meetings with parents termly and during parent’s evenings, to discuss previous and future targets to aid students further. Writing termly reports for all wave 2 and wave 3 students, these reports are sent to class teachers and sent home to parents. Delivering literacy workshops to parents and arranging for parent’s open week activities, parents are welcome during this time to come and observe lessons.
As part of the Inclusion team I had many responsibilities. My ability to be flexible when implementing lessons is of most importance, in conjunction with structuring schemes of work to creating lesson plans. The ability to be creative and innovative when delivering knowledge is what I enjoy most when teaching. Understanding the best fit for all types of learners is in itself a challenge; however, I embrace the opportunity to create a thriving, comfortable and enjoyable environment in my classroom.
