New York University, Abu Dhabi is the first purpose built liberal arts campus to be delivered in the UAE and provides circa four million square feet of academic real estate designed for 2, 600 students with on-site residential facilities for 500 faculty members and 2000 students. The campus includes 117, 000m2 academic space, 142, 000m2 residential space, 120, 000 m2 sports facilities and 128, 000 m2 campus life.

Construction Manager (November 2010 - December 2012) I was tasked with the delivery of the first phase of a road, infrastructure and industrial warehouses construction project in line with the Clients master plan to develop a 6 million m2 Industrial Zone in Abu Dhabi adjacent to Abu Dhabi Industrial City V (ICAD V).
Roles and Responsibility
- Managed Client contractual requirements ensuring all deliverables are achieved in a cost effective and timely manner while maintaining effective quality and HSE standards throughout the construction phase.
- Established critical objectives liaising with the Employer, Technical Advisors, Government Authorities, Third Party Consultants and the Main Contractor.
- As a project manager within the employer’s representative delivery team I drove the construction progress towards contract milestones and the scheduled completion of works.
- Undertook regular site visits, identified and took actions against potential risks related to progress, quality and safety.
- Monitored contractor’s performance and the consultant engineers in identifying deviations from the planned works and create action plans to correct where necessary. Ensured best practices in quality and safety standards achieved at all times.
- Prepared process flow charts and tracking models to monitor the progress on site; established and monitored projects KPI's and implemented necessary interventions where deviations are noted.
- Managed the Review and approval process of engineering design, including all that drawings, specifications, supporting calculations and other documentation of the Project submitted by the Contractors.
- Spearheaded project quality management and overseen the implementation of the Project Quality Plan throughout the construction process.
- Reviewed the performance and monitored progress of commissioning activities of all systems for early identification of the variance and corrective actions.
n Overseen the management of the testing & commissioning phase and actively contributed to the project close out. Coordinated and prepared project close out reports.
- Managed construction and hand over of different utilities to respective authorities for operational use. Ensured the specifications are followed and approvals obtained by utilising a robust understanding of authority requirement and close liaison with relevant stakeholders.
Identify and manage Client’s requirements and maintained close working relation-ship; Coordinate with project consultants, specialist contractors, govt. authorities for the preparation of proposals as per Client’s RFP’s; Supervise the preparation of contractual agreements and detect variations and changes to contractual agreements; Define the project, prepare and review scope & specification, budget forecast and secure stakeholder approval including approval of change of scope, if there is any; Provide recommendation, advice and support to project management related issues that have an effect on the financial outcome of the project, overall process of administration and control on sub-contractual agreements; Evaluate and interpret main contracts, sub-contracts and supply conditions and obligations and advise project team on liabilities and risks under the contractual arrangements; Supervise and secure project interests with necessary bonds, warranties, insurances, undertakings; Review shop drawings & material approval submittals, obtain Client approvals. Plan the project, monitor and track the progress; Inform stakeholders of progress as well as control the project cost;Conduct progress meetings and distribute the MOM; Solve the problems that interfere with progress, timely attain the milestones, deliver the project deliverables and benefits on time;;Lead the project team; manage the per-formance of everyone involved with the project; Ensure that monthly bill of various projects are prepared and submitted promptly, according to the progress of project and in accordance with the contract terms & conditions; Review and certify subcontractor’s invoices according to the progress of works. Responsible for contractual correspondences and project documentation; Worked in coordination with the Customer Relation Centre and Help Desk.; Work collaboratively and cooperatively as a member of the company's Property Quality Assurance team (PQA)
• Responsible for the general administration and over-all supervision of the site from mobilization to final handing over of the project.
• Prepare and monitor construction project schedule & maintain the project as up-to-date.
• Plan and carry-out all Civil and MEP activities, ensure adequate resources at site on time, coordinate with subcontractors, foreseen the probable risks and responsible for achieving milestones and timely completion of project within the budgeted cost.
• Claim time & cost variations and responsible for obtaining variation orders from consultants / clients.
• Liaise with Clients/Consultants for coordination, approvals, meetings etc. and responsible for obtaining timely approvals of materials, subcontractors, shop drawings and other submittals.
• Ensure that monthly bill of various projects are prepared and submitted promptly, according to the progress of project and in accordance with the contract terms & conditions.
• Obtain all approvals and certificates such as demarcation certificate, field report, final survey certificate, civil defense approval, DM completion certificate, handing over certificate, variation orders, monthly payment certificates from Consultants, Clients, Dubai Municipality & other government agencies as required and ensure that all are documented properly.
• Supervise, train, assist, motivate and encourage site engineers, foremen, and all other subordinates to obtain optimum productivity at all times.
• Invite and evaluate quotations for subcontract works and assist the Director in finalizing the subcontractors.
• Prepare sub-contractor’s payment certificates.
• Attend site coordination meetings and document the minutes.•
• Responsible for all site activities from setting out to handing over, liaise with Municipality Departments for inspections, approvals, certificates, services connection, release of security deposits, etc. Deal with Consultants for approval of materials and shop drawings. Monitor the progress of works, arrange site meetings, and coordinate with sub-contractors and material suppliers to achieve the mile stones. Assure the quality of works.
• Experienced in preparation of steel schedules and technical supervision of shuttering and form works, scaffolding, steel fixing, concreting, block works (load bearing and non load bearing) aluminium and joinery works, waterproofing works, all type of interior and exterior finishing works and over all supervision of M.E.P. works.
• Experienced in construction of luxurious villas, hotel annex and club houses, etc. Conducted land surveys and familiar with theodolite, dumpy level and other surveying instruments and methods.
• Responsibilities include dealing with structural engineers, architects, sub-contractors and material suppliers. Also, responsible for quantity taking and quality control.
