I was assigned on a project given to the firm by the World Trade Organization. They had given a legal questionnaire to answer queries regarding any regulations, policies, laws and rules that could be a barrier for foreign service suppliers to supply services in Pakistan in five different sectors. I was assigned on the telecommunication sector where it was my responsibilities to research various licensing procedures, tariff barriers and differences in treatment to foreign suppliers against domestic suppliers.
I further assisted the senior partner in drafting a Trade Mark compromise agreement while various registration of Trade Marks and changing the name of the proprietor after the previous owner had sold his assets to a buyer. I have also worked on copyright infringement matters, where a client in Germany had contacted us that images and artwork from their catalogue were being copied by a local supplier and marketed in Pakistan without their permission. I have also worked on copyright infringement matters for Microsoft.
Furthermore, I was given the task to prepare legal advice to an international client regarding a commercial contract, whereby the client asked for advice regarding liabilities in his contract for providing defected goods. I had to review the entire contract and its term, also any implied terms incorporated by law under the Sale of Goods Act. I assisted the partner in amending his article based on enforcement of Foreign Judgement in Civil Procedure Code 1908 section 13, 14 and 44A and added up to date case law and analysis on it.
Worked on civil litigation on employment termination contracts and liquidated damages claim.
I completed my Legal Practice Course (LPC) which is neccessary to complete in order to practice as a solicitor in England and Wales. However, I completed my LLM alongside with the LPC as the university offered a top up programme of the LLM by completing a research report and an extra elective.
I completed my LLB (Hons), I was enrolled with the University of London with their international programmes which was a self study course, however I was attending Lecole for advanced studies in Karachi to attend lectures and workshops for preparation.
