Lead and manage the internal audit function for the automotive division with 35 branches across five (5) Automotive divisions namely, New Vehicle Sales, Pre-owned Vehicle Sales, After Sales, Spare Parts and Credit Finance with multi-million Qatari riyals in consolidated annual revenue. Essential duties and responsibilities are as follows:
- Direct the timely execution of Risk-based Audit Plan for all departments and processes across the Company that revolves around but not limited to the following established policies and procedures / professional standards / regulatory requirements:
1. Automotive Process i.e., Nissan Dealership Standards and Process (NDSP) / Nissan Sales and Service Way (NSSW) / Dealer Management System (DMS);
2. International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS);
3. International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (IPPF)
4. Financial Statements Review
5. Revenue Audit and Budget Review
6. Continuous Risk Assessment and Internal Controls Evaluation
7. Operational/ Regulatory Compliance Audits (i.e., Consumer Protection Law)
8. Vehicle and Spare Parts Inventory / Receivable Management
9. Fraud Detection and Prevention
10. Audit Analytical Tools (i.e., ACL/Pentana/Arbutus)
- Ensure that company processes for controlling its activities and managing risk are sufficient including coverage of control and monitoring functions to provide reasonable assurance on the integrity and reliability of information and financial reporting, safeguard company assets, and comply with laws and regulations (risk management, governance, compliance, security).
- Actively tracks the operational and financial information that indicates the health of the organization.
- Manage the review and alignment with policies and procedures requirements in various areas across SHMC.
- Scheduled timely audits, consultation and discussion with cross-functional teams and Senior Management on the adequacy of both financial controls and the related operational controls then recommend areas for improvement to ensure adherence to defined quality standards that will drive revenue growth, cost reduction and strengthening internal controls.
- Lead the review and presentation of audit findings to Senior Management and recommend areas for improvement to ensure adherence with established professional standards / policies and procedures / regulatory requirements.
- Signed the final audit reports to the Chairman consisting of a digest or executive summary of the audit findings, risk impact, audit recommendations and management action plans to resolve the issues.
- Stay informed about emerging trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in the automotive sector to ensure audit processes remain relevant and effective.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and training to audit staff to foster professional development and ensure consistent audit quality.
Key Job Responsibilities
Within the general guidelines provided by the Chairman or Group Advisor:
1. Systematic review of accounting systems, financial and operating information and related internal financial controls; examination of financial and operating information for management, including detailed testing of transactions and balances.
2. Review of the efficiency and effectiveness of operations and of the functioning of non-financial controls.
3. Systematic review of the implementation of corporate policies, plans and procedures (and responsible for ensuring Finance policies are fully documented).
4. Assessment of major business risks and ensure that risk management is properly in place.
5. Special investigations.
6. Determine the adequacy of the system of internal control.
7. Examine management’s stewardship at all levels for effectiveness and compliance with corporate standards.
8. Recommend improvement in operational and financial controls to promote corporate growth and increase profits.
9. Audit the reliability and operation of the accounting and reporting system.
10. Issue audit reports on the results of reviews including appropriate recommendations for improvement.
11. Identify opportunities for improved operational performance (in terms of economy and efficiency) by appraising functional effectiveness.
12. Verify the existence of corporate assets and assure that proper safeguards are maintained to protect them from losses of all kinds.
13. Conduct special examinations at the request of management.
Key achievements as Internal Auditor
1. Originally established the Internal Audit Department of what it is now today that gained respect and confidence from various stakeholders which resulted to the recruitment and increase of qualified audit staff.
2. Constant reporting of internal control weaknesses on Spare Parts Inventories that lead to the reduction of inventory theft and obsolescence by QR 3M annually.
3. Continuous audits of repair jobs in After Sales Service Division lead to the increase in turnaround time of servicing the customer vehicles and increase customer satisfaction index by 90%.
4. Recommended the establishment of Logistics Department to formulate robust policies and procedures that resulted to cost efficiencies and savings in new vehicle handling and maintenance.
5. Served in Project Steering Committee on the successful implementation of Kerridge Auto Line Systems, an automotive ERP software.
6. Assisted in defining the Internal Audit Charter of the company for the approval of the Chairman.
7. Promoted as Chief Internal Auditor.
