Responsibilities and Roles Handled
➢ Database design
Apply normalization, Designing the table structure, column types and constraints.
➢ PL/SQL programming
Procedure, package, Ref cursor, Collections, NDS to be implemented. Worked with inbound and outbound xml data transfer.
➢ Performance Tuning.
Tuning application queries and views.
➢ Release co-ordination
Conducting deployment process at the time of periodic releases.
➢ Sync different DBs
Copying of data structures and data between different databases.
BAJAJ ALLIANZ (GIOS Framework)
I have joined Bajaj Allianz as a trainee after completing my 10+2. The company has provided training in all software technologies (Advanced diploma) for 1 year (Aug '06 to Aug '07) . The program was conducted by karROX Technologies, Pune. After successful completion of the program, we were inducted into system development.
Responsibilities and Roles Handled
➢ GIOS/OPUS Developer
Insurance solutions provided by CGI. Worked as a developer for different modules like Policy, Claim, Cancellation, Endorsements, Renewal, Accounting and Move codes. Did end-end development in Oracle Forms and Reports 2000 and 11G database. Also worked in WEO (Web Enabled Opus) which is based in Struts framework.
➢ Database design
DB design including tables, procedures, packages, grants. The design phase will see all aspects of the proposed system and total number objects to be created and altered. Impact analysis on existing objects also will be done.
➢ System Development
Full system designing including front end and back end.
➢ Production Support
Support will be given after the roll out of the module. Was part of the production support at the induction time. This was help full to know about all the products marked by the company.
➢ Performance Tuning
There were multiple schedulers running as part of commission processed. So there was regular performance enhancement changes required like configuring parallel jobs, changing the process flow.

• Policy Issuance Modules
The modules used for policy issuance, renewal and amendments. Technologies used are Struts and Oracle Forms. Enable branch offices across india to avail the products offered by the company. Main contribution to the following..

Policy Renewal Modules
Contributed significantly to renewal module restructuring, especially Motor Renewal. There were multiple jobs running for different products, to intimate customer about the renewal by sending Renewal Notices. It was a tedious work monitor and trace if any policy is missing or failure happened. A proposal came from management and I have integrated all the schedulers into a single one. There were flags for individual products, missing dates. We captured exceptions and failures, and intimated concerned person though e-mailers. This has provided much needed release for the support team, they used to handle numerous requests from various branches.
Also there a was an innovative idea to print renewal notices in local languages and distribute to customer. I have completed this project in struts 1.3 framework. There coding language used was IText which was new to our department. We have printed and distributed the files in 7 indian languages, embedding a barcode in that. We took the help of resource bundle for mapping the font files with xml.
Data Processing Modules
➢ Commission
Commission payouts to be done for the agents on a frequency of 15 days. Bulk data to be extracted and rates to be applied. Since the volume of data is huge, we are taking the help of parallel jobs. The interfaces designed in jsp and db part in PL/SQL.
I have restructured the commission process. Initially there were lots of requests from the finance about various masters, missing cases, rate mismatch cases and request for reprocess. I have provided interface reports wherever possible. Also created loader so that users can upload policy wise rates and do reprocess their own. Provided option to process the payouts from the system itself, instead of doing it manually. This brought much appreciation from the stakeholder departments.
Month end commission scheduler used to take close to 6 hrs due to the large volume of data. We have studied the entire process again and removed some unwanted codes. Also made some changes in the process flow. Then we configured parallel schedulers, which now runs less than 2 hrs.
➢ TP Pool
Specific to reinsurance concept. Generating customer data in xml format and upload in third party ftp. The feedbacks to be processed in the system after the acceptance. The technology used was xml parser and jsp.
Also there were instances when we required large data to be imported into the db to compare with production data. SQL Loader was a handy tool in those occasions.
Reconciliation of records and amounts were the main work in the tp pool module. We have to match record by record and amount by amount to the third party (GIC) system. There were many calculations involved, multiple uploads happened. This has enhanced my skill as a data analyst. I learned how to read financial reports, how to represent the data.
➢ Policy Accounting
Designed few screens to process receipts and cheques. These were useful for generating and unblocking the receipts.
Domain Expertise (Insurance)
BJAZ started providing insurance knowledge from the initial stage itself. I have received 6 months in house training about the concept of insurance. Also there were sessions as and when there is a new product launch or IRDA circulars.
I have worked with various kinds of modules like Policy Issuance, Endorsements, Renewal, Commission, Claims.
